Saiki's legs seemed to move on their own after the announcement from Dr. K sounded over the loudspeaker all across the city. His ears rang. He didn't hear Aiura call after him as he turned his back on her, Toritsuka, Kuboyasu, and Kaidou... Kaidou. His mind was freshly processing what had just happened. He felt numb now after witnessing the boy's death, like his heart had been hollowed from the inside out. He stumbled through the streets, past the flames and the destruction, the explosions... he made his way towards LMTLSS headquarters. 'It's all my fault...' He thought. 'I never should have involved anyone in this. I should have been the only one to come to this city...' No matter how many times he replays the memories in his head, he couldn't help but feel more and more despaired.

He entered the now vacant building. The doors were left open as people had evacuated in a hurry, eager to get away from the rioters before they showed up. It was dark there now. Quiet. He stared out the window. A LMTLSS helicopter had been hit by an explosive, falling into a building and smashing everything in its wake. Everything around him was in complete chaos, and yet, the room he stood in seemed peaceful. That is, until he heard the cocking of a gun behind him.

"I didn't think you'd show." Saiki turned around slowly to face Dr. K, holding a gun up to his head. "I'm not shocked by your perseverance in surviving your little journey here." He sneered.

"..." Saiki barely had any energy to argue back with him. "You said you have Teruhashi..." He spoke in a voice barely audible, eyes still red from his tears over Kaidou.

"I must be honest with you, Kusuo." Dr. K sighed. "That wasn't the only reason I invited you back."

He furrowed his brows slightly. "... Then what is it?"

He narrowed his eyes slightly at him, as if he didn't believe Kusuo didn't know why. "A revelation has been made." He said simply. "And it's you."

"What are you talking about?"

"That girl. Aiura, was it? She had been infected by the virus months ago, as I've been told by Teruhashi. Your blood was used in order to create the serum..." he trailed off for a brief moment, trying to gauge the pink haired boy's reaction. "It cured her."

His eyes widened, fists bawling up and shoulders tensing as he heard what the doctor had just said. "... What?"

"You cured her, Kusuo. Your blood is the key to ending the virus. The key to ending all of this."

"..." He didn't believe him. He had no reason to... but it was the only possible answer for why Aiura is the way she is now. It was like the virus had never even entered her system to begin with. His lip quivered slightly upon this realization. "You're telling me I could have saved him..?" He whispered. "I could have saved Kaidou?"

"You could save us all..."

"I–"

...!

He hadn't seen it coming through his tear-blurred eyes. Dr. K had stepped forward, a syringe hidden in his pocket, waiting for the right time to sedate Saiki, putting him to sleep. The pink haired took the needle out of his neck, eyes widening at the sudden realization that he was starting to lose consciousness as he looked down at it. He stumbled a bit, trying to fight it off, but fell over when he couldn't win.

"And you knew about this, didn't you?" Was all he heard from Dr. K as his eyes closed, vision going black...

A low rumble reverberated around the boy as he laid on the ground, his right shoulder being crushed by his own weight, causing him to stir. A metallic taste in his mouth and his green tinted glasses scattered a few feet away from him, the left lens cracked. His eyes finally opened, and he lifted a weak hand to wipe the sweat from his brow, brushing the hot pink fringe that stuck to his forehead to the side of his face.
