Later that night Bucky was sitting with Mason with James when Susie's doctor came in.
"I have already informed her family, but um your ex wife didn't make it. We did all we could to save her. But the impact of the crash caused her to much damage." Dr Benson said
"Thank you." Bucky said as tears welled.
Two police officers came in, "Mr Barnes we wanted to tell you what happened. And just know that we arrested the first driver. But Susie had the green light she went to go and a guy that was high on LSD ran a red light and t boned her knocking her car into oncoming traffic. Which caused the second car to hit her as they hydroplaned on the black ice they hit and slammed into her." Officer Telly said
"Thank you.." Bucky said as he went into a numb state.
As he sat down, James looked at him
"Son look at me, you really have to step up now do you understand? You have to be responsible and the adult in the room. You can't let him down now because if you do the state will take him. So you better start growing up son I know you have been clean and sober for two years but now you better stay that way and don't do anything that could screw this chance up." James said
Bucky swallowed hard.
The next morning, Bucky called and got a sub for the last week of the semester. He also sent a text to his friends in their group chat that Susie had passed. Miranda tried to call and text when it had been a few days since the accident.
Bucky ignored it all, and just focused on what he needed to do for Mason. He even had Mason help him decorate the tree for Christmas.
