Bonus Chapter - "You two know each other?"

Your colleagues asks you for recommendations on someone to come help out on an expedition you're all going on. They need someone strong, because you're going to have to lift a lot of heavy equipment on the surface and underwater. And your team aren't that strong. Mac could manage but it would be easier with some help.

  You think of Jonas, so you call him and he picks up immediately.

  "Yn?" He asks, having seen your contact name on the screen.

  "Jonas.. Are you working?" You ask when you hear the boys hollering in the background because they hear who was calling him. Jonas stood up to leave the room, to avoid you hearing them.

  "Yes, I am. What's up? Is something wrong?"

  "Yes, something is very wrong. We need your help."

  "What? What do you mean? What is it?" He says worriedly. "What's wrong?"

  He puts you on speaker to dig in his bag for his car keys to leave immediately for you. The guys now also looking worried.

  "My team! We need your help, Jonas! I need you!" You say, sounding like you're in distress. "We need, we need someone strong! Someone who can lift.. something very heavy!"

  "What happened?"

  "We, we were just talking.. in the conference room, and then.. We were talking about our next expedition! And, then! Oh, and then.. something happened! Something happened, Jonas!"

  "Yn, what happened!?" He says as he finds his keys.

  "I thought of you! You can help us!"

  "Yn, tell me where you are?" He asks, heading for the door.

  "At work!"

  "Yn, what happened? Do I need to bring someone, any tools, equipment?" He needs to know if he should bring something to save you or your team.

  He still doesn't understand what has happened. His mind is running all kinds of worst scenarios. If the building collapsed and someone is stuck under debris. Or if someone was drowning since you worked right by the ocean. Maybe he needed to call the police. But you're just messing with him.

  "We need someone very strong and heroic! To help!.." You then start to speak normal with no distress in your voice. "To help lift heavy equipment on our next expedition and I want you to dive with me. So, I need you to come."

  You try not to laugh. Jonas stops just before he grabs the door handle to leave. The boys had stood up to follow, but then laugh.

  "Yn, you are gonna give me a heart attack one day." He sighs and lean his head on the door, letting his heartbeat slow down from the adrenaline that had started to kick in.

  "I'm serious! What if something happens, and I need you to save me?"

"I'm starting to think I'm the one that needs saving.. from you."

"But aren't you worried about me? I am in desperate need of help, Jonas."

"What do you really need? Cause it ain't saving."

"I want you to join us. Will you come?"

You really enjoy spending time with him, and find it fascinating to watch his reactions to new things. Jonas thinks about this as you keep explaining the trips details and how long you'll be gone for. He would have to get time off. But he doesn't think that will be a problem because he hasn't taken time off since forever.

"I'll talk with the boss, and let you know." He answers as if it's a business deal or something. Vague and a little cold, but he's just starting to plan because he wants to go.

"So, you want to come?" You ask him. He's surprised by your question and frowns.

"Yes." He answers and you smile.

"Okay, good. Let me know and I'll tell my team. Bye, Jonas."

"Bye, Yn."

...

You're standing on the dock waiting for Jonas. As he gets there, you go to meet him by his car.

"Hey! You ready?"

He nods to you, and you walk to the boat you're travelling with. Jonas gets into the boat first and turn to hold his hand out to you. He helps you onto it, and then you go to find the others. Walking inside the boat, everyone turn their attention to you. Then Jonas walks in behind you.

"Jonas?" Mac says, surprised.

"Mac?" Jonas is surprised too.

"You two know each other?" You ask.

"You two know each other?" Mac empathises on you and Jonas knowing each other. This grumpy ass being the last person he thought you would hang out with.

"Yeah." You answer, sounding like you are proud to be his friend.

Jonas takes notice and smiles at you. Which Mac notices, realisation comes to him and he smiles brightly, then goes to hug his old friend.

"It's good to see you again, man. Been a long time now." Mac tells him.

"Not long enough." Jonas jokes.
