Bonus Chapter - Deciding to admit their feelings

"So, when are you leaving for the wedding?" Jonas ask Mac, just starting conversation.

"Wedding?"

"Yeah, the friends you told about last week at dinner with everyone. The ones getting married." He tells him, confused when he doesn't know what he's talking about.

"Oh! Yeah, no. There's no wedding." He tells him laughing.

"What? But you said.."

"I needed to make you realise the age difference doesn't bother Yn. There are people getting married with age gaps, but I just don't know any one of them." He laughs at Jonas dumbfounded reaction.

"Seriously?"

"Yeah, it's recently been the only excuse you've used when I've tried to tell you to ask her out, brother. You needed to get it out of that head of yours. I understood the hesitation in the beginning. And you've been taking time to get to know her like a friend like anyone else in a normal and appropriate way. And it has only proven that what you two have is gold, you need to go for it."

"But that's just it, it's good now, I love our friendship. I.."

"No, Jonas.. You love her." Mac tells him.

Jonas thinks about what Mac said the whole night. The next day he's on a diving trip with you and your team. You're going to catch a certain fish for them to put a tracker on, so they can study its behaviour and document their season travel-way.

You sit down beside Jonas on the side of the boat in your wetsuit and he helps you buckle the last few things on your gear. Once he's does, you do your traditional fist bump. You smile at each other and lean back, falling back into the water.

Jonas successfully caught the fish in the net. While the scientists on your team are working, you turn to Jonas with a comment and you start laughing at your own joke.

Jonas realises in that moment that he loves you, with all his heart. He's yours and yours forever. He looks at you lovingly as you laugh.

Neither of you notice that one of your coworkers had taken out her phone to take a picture of the two of you. Later on, she sends you the photo and you love it so much you make it your laptop background.

Jonas has finally stopped being in denial, decides he had to tell you that he loves you. Though it takes some time to find the confidence to tell you.

Lately, you have become even more aware of how Jonas makes your heart flutter and how your stomach is full of butterflies when he walks into the room. And how his scowl and protectiveness of you slightly turns you on.

You think about how much your friendship means to you and if it it's worth risking. In the end, you know you have to tell him. It almost feels wrong not to. Recently because both of you are growing closer in that way, even without acknowledging it, he has become the one you tell everything.

You feel like you're keeping something from him. And if you and him never turn into something more than friends, the way your friendship is now should probably be pulled back a little, because it is a little too close for two people who are just friends. If either of you find someone else, you would definitely take it down a notch or two.

It's an emotional relationship, it just misses the acknowledgment of the fact that it is what it is, and the intimacy. Which is something that has also been something the two of you have really starts to feel whenever you're around each other. You both urge to be close, and always finds excuses to be close and make physical contact with each other in some way.

At first you're really exited to tell him. However, then your insecurities starts to make you hesitate. But you realise you have to try, to give it a chance. You decide that you're going to tell him tomorrow.

Jonas has finally decided he can't wait after he has been doing something with you and all he wanted to do was kiss you and he couldn't think of anything other than how he should confess his feelings in a way to not risk scaring you away. Though if you reject him, he realises he wouldn't be able to be just your friend anymore anyway so it doesn't matter. He has to tell you how he feels. It's wrong not to at this point.

He plans to tell you tomorrow, and then he's hopefully going to get to kiss you.

The next day, Jonas calls you to remind you of your plans to dive with him today. He made plans to have you alone and for him to do something that calms him and both of you love doing.

Just as you are about to tell him you're ready, his work phone blares off and he picks up the call.

"I'm so sorry Yn. They need me on a rescue mission."

"That's okay, I'll just see you when you get back."

"Alright, I'll see you, bye."

"Be safe, Jonas."

...

"So, when are you going to tell her you secretly want to bang her?" Marks asks Jonas, on the way to do the rescue mission.

They had asked how you were when they heard him on a call with you before they left. Jonas gives him a disapproving glare and he looks down, muttering an apology.

"Yeah, you're all big and scary, fearless, but when it comes to the perfect girl for you, you barely have the balls to tell her how you really feel." D'Angelo tells him, laughing.

Jonas just huff at their teasing, not even able to deny it anymore. He grumbles something under his breath.

"What was that, boss?"

"I was gonna tell her today." He says louder and they look at him with wide eyes.

"That's great!" They cheer and he smiles slightly to himself.

"We're here." The sub pilot then announce.

And then everything goes downhill from there.

(This is where the incident in the beginning of the movie happens.)
