Bonus Chapter - First Time Meeting (Part 3)

Jonas gets a hold of his team and informs them of the situation. You heard them cheering once they heard his team leaders voice. After 15 minutes the boy is crying again and asking for his mom. Jonas and you are trying to calm him down but it's not working, then an idea comes to your mind.

"Hey Arturo, do you want to see something awesome?" You ask him and he looks up from his hands, nodding hesitantly. You turn to the man. "It's only a 10-15 minutes away from our trail and we could stay for just a little while." You asks him for permission to go.

He looks at the sniffling boy in the room then nods to you. You smile eagerly and you turn in your seat, to chance direction of the sub.

"Arturo why don't you play cards with.. uh.." You realise you don't know his name yet, you turn to him in question.

"Jonas." He tells you his name and you tell him yours back.

"Arturo, you play with Jonas and I'll let you know when we're there alright?" You look to the kid while gesturing toward a cabinet where you have a stack of cards, for Jonas to get.

They play a little while. Jonas had managed to joke some with the kid as they played, and he was lighter in the mood and less tense. Jonas was too.

"We're here." You announce and turn in your seat. "You ready, sweetie?" You asks him.

Arturo nods eagerly and jumps down from his seat at the little table they were playing at, and Jonas stand to follow. They get to you and you gestures for Arturo to sit on your lap, you help him up and turn forward in you seat with the boy.

"Okay now, help me out." You tell the boy. "Can you push this button for me? It turns on the lights outside of the sub." You tell him and he does, you hear a few deep clicks coming from outside. "And this." You point to another button. "When you're ready, it opens the window-shielding." You tell him.

The boy takes a deep breath and pushes the button. You smile, watching as the shield lifts up from the window showing more and more of the outside, a beautiful coral reef with many different colourful fishes swimming around. The boy gasps, looking around in awe. You turn your head to the side and up to see Jonas' reaction, he stands there with one hand on the head pillow of your seat watching outside with his mouth slightly agape. His eyes wide in wonder. You smile even brighter at that.

Later, you are parking the sub beside the dock by Jonas work base. Jonas walks up and out first, as he does, you prepare to help Arturo get up.

Outside the team is walking toward the now parked sub, they help tie it and watch as Jonas goes back to the hatch and lifts the boy up. They cheer again, making the boy smile. Jonas bends down and hand the boy to the paramedics that came up behind his team ready to take the kid with them. As he lets go of the kid, he turns back to the hatch, bends down and hold out a hand for you. You don't really need it to get out, but on instinct you take it. He lifts you easily out of the sub and set you down beside him.

The team starts cheering and hollering again once they see you. You smile brightly at them. As they cheer and holler you, Jonas just shakes his head with a small smile on his face. The team take notice and share a silent look between each other at their boss' smile.

  You say goodbye to Arturo as he gets in the ambulance and he calls you Captain Bubbles as he waves. You live the nickname and it melts your heart. You smile at the sweet boy as they take him away to bring him back to his mother waiting at the hospital.

  You turn back to Jonas and the rest standing around the dock by your sub.

"Nice ride,.. uh.." Marks says, then realising he doesn't really know your name.

"Yn." You introduce yourself, then you smirk at Marks and knock on the sub. "Oh, and this old thing? She's a trustworthy ride."

"Sounds like she might've been on a few adventures. Which I want to hear about. Join us for dinner before you leave." The question comes out more of a statement from Marks.

  You accept and stay. The boys eagerly shows you their base.

...

You sit beside Jonas at the dinner table in the common-room. Everyone sits in their work clothes except the gear of course, Jonas has changed too, since their technically still on shift.

"So, you're a sub pilot?" Someone asks you.

"Just pilot." You answer.

"You pilot anything else?"

"Mhm, name it, plane, helicopter, sub,.." You tell them. "I mean, I don't have a license for everything, though in an emergency I'd be able to fly pretty much anything." They look at you impressed.

You give them a little smile after taking a bite of your food and turn to look at Jonas. He only glances at you with a blank face and you frown.

"Don't worry Yn, he's like that with everyone." One of the boys tell you. You look at the one talking, confused you turn back to Jonas and start thinking of what to do to get a reaction out of him.

"Not good enough for you, huh?" You joke. And Jonas spits into his glass, the water he was just about to swallow, making him cough awkwarldy.

"What? No! That's not-" He starts, but stop as he sees you laughing.

"I'm just messing with you." You say in between your laugh. He rolls his eyes taking a new sip of his drink trying not to laugh and to hide his blush and smile.

The others around the table watch with their jaws on the floor. Never seen anyone manage to get any kind of reaction out of Jonas, least of all a flustered reaction.
(I know, not exactly like the Jonas in the movie but I just made him like this now and then he's like he really is when we get to the movie story line. Sorry, I'm gonna try not to comment a lot like this. I guess I just feel like explaining myself.)

After dinner, Jonas is walking you toward the sub on the dock.

"Thank you for this, I had fun. Your team is nice, you have good men working with you." You tell him.

He looks at you, grateful for your comment, though he just nods with a small smile. Then he helps you untie the sub. You're about to get into the sub when you stop and turn to him, finding him still watching you intently. You smile.

"I couldn't help but notice how you found the view earlier today, the reef I mean. Do you have a diving license?" You ask him. He's taken aback, but answer fast.

"Yes." He has it for his job, so he hasn't used it in his free time though.

"Me and my friends are going to check out this reef a few miles out of the city. This Friday, if you want to, you're welcome to join. Just meet me at the parking lot for that big mall, I believe it's just a few miles away from here, I'll be there at 8 am." You tell him with a smile.

He just looks at you for a long moment but you decide to not wait for an answer anyway, it was an open invitation. If he wants to, he'll show up. You climb down and close the hatchet on the way.
