The Meg (Jonas x reader)

Chapter 2

"Yeah, ask her if she ever blew up a whaling ship with a homemade torpedo." Wall says.

"Hey!" You scold, but with a smile. Recollecting the memory with Jonas, a sad feeling grows in you so you shake it off and focus on the task ahead.

"No!" Morris says, eyes wide.

He laughs and clap Zhang on the shoulder.

"That is a good hire." He tells him.

"Eleven in two." "Water temperature is at six degrees." Toshi and Wall reports.

"Mac, we are approaching the thermocline. We are at 11,000 meters." You inform.

"One hundred meters from the bottom... maybe." Toshi smirks to the camera.

"Maybe from the bottom." Wall says dramatically, giggling slightly to himself in excitement.

"Maybe? What does that mean, 'maybe'?" Morris asks.

"Come on. Look at this." Mac says gesturing for him to come look at the screen table.

"Since 1875, we've all believed the Mariana Trench was the deepest place on earth. I've had a theory that what we think is the bottom, might actually be a layer of hydrogen sulphide. Beneath that cloud, and a freezing cold thermocline, there could be a completely new world." Zhang tells him.

"Wow." Morris says.

"The Origin is about to see if my father is right. If there is warm water below, that means we're going to be the first to see it." Suyin tells him.

"And what if you're wrong?" Morris then asks.

"Then you have wasted $1,3 billion dollars." Zhang answers casually.

"You're kidding." Morris says, laughing.

Zhang shakes his head with an innocent smile. So Morris looks to Mac for confirmation.

"He's kidding, right?"

"Copy that." Mac just evades the question by pretending to get a message through his earpiece and walks away from him.

"Wait, what?" Morris ask worried.

On the sub, the Origin, you get closer to the thermocline.

"Ten meters. Approaching boundary."

"Hovering a five meters. Full stop." You say.

"Final checks." Mac says through the coms. "Jax?"

"Good to go." The girl answers.

"Doc?" Mac asks Heller.

"Crew are a go." The doctor reports, looking at your vitals.

"Dj?"

"Sub and rover are a go." Dj confirms.

"Origin crew, we are go for insertion." Mac then tells you.

"Insertion." Toshi snickers, him and Wall chuckling together.

You sigh. "Is everything sexual with you guys?"

"Sex, food, power, and.. money." They say in unison. "Blow it up now." The two fist bump, smug with themselves and you roll your eyes.

"Dive control, we are a go for..." You try to hold back the smile forming, but fail. "Insertion."

The boys behind you chuckle again and you shake your head, amused. You steer the sub down and into the thermocline. Not hitting any resistance, you dive further down and through.
