The Meg (Jonas x reader)

Chapter 5

The helicopter lands on Mana One, Dr. Zhang and Mac get out from it with Jonas. Jax walking hastily up to meet them.

"Sir, we've got a new problem." She tells Zhang.

"It's your daughter." Morris says coming up after her.

"She took a glider to try and save them." Jax tells him.

"Why did you let her go?" He asks Jax.

"Trust me, I didn't let her do anything." Jax says, annoyed.

"I was sort of under the impression you're supposed to try to save people who are dying on the bottom of the ocean." Morris say, slightly confused.

"Who's he?" Jonas asks Mac, walking ahead of everyone, anxious to get to you. You had mentioned a mission like this to him in your most recent letter, but not written much detail about it. If he had known where you were going, he would've done something to stop you. (Check out Bonus Chapters.)

"I'm the guy who paid for all this." Morris answers him.

"Uh, huh." He just says.

"You know, he looks heroic and he walks fast, but he kind of got a negative attitude." Morris say to others as they walk after him to the elevator.

"What's the window?" Jonas asks as they all get in.

"It'll be close." Jax says from behind them, leaning on the wall of the elevator.

"Who are you?" He asks turning to her.

"I'm the one who designed all of this." She answers.

"So my life's in your hands, Jax?" He says, now remembering her from your letters.

"First, how do you know my name? Second, pretty much. That a problem?" She asks.

"First, Yn's letters. Second, nah. You look like you might actually know what you're doing." He tells her. She smiles at that.

The elevator stops and the doors open.

"Oh, I'm sorry." Dr. Zhang stops Jonas from walking out of the elevator. "Mac, have Dr. Heller meet us in the medical bay."

"Heller?" Jonas asks, pissed.

"Did I not mention that?" Mac says, trying to look innocent.

"You mother-" Jonas says but the elevator door closes.

In the medical bay, Jonas stares at Heller with an angry look.

"He's in perfect shape." Heller tells Dr. Zhang.

"Just like the last time you examined me." Jonas remarks.

Mac walks in.

"Suyin took a glider 15 minutes ago. She's planning on taking the Origin back up." He tells them.

"Take me to the sub." Jonas rips of the equipment Heller had put on him to check his vitals.

"We're not done yet." Heller tries to stop him.

"Yeah we are. Yn's running out of air and we're in international waters, which means, legally, I can beat the ever-loving shit out of you and get away with it. Yn knows how much i want to." He tells him.

"It's true." Mac tells them. "Legally, I mean." He adds, seeing Zhang look at him.

...

"Jonas, you do know that this sub is rated 12,000 meters, right?" Mac says as they walk toward it.

"Like the one leaking on the ocean floor?" Jonas says.

"Ah. Good point." Mac says. "We good?" He then asks the worker they pass.

"Yep." The worker answers.

"Once you strip back the safeties and go full manual, like I know you're gonna do, the system's gonna have problems trying to keep up with your pressure changes." Mac says as Jonas climb over and start to get down the open sub hatch.

He looks at the drawings on the glider and see the writing, 'Captain Bubbles'. His heart flutters slightly at the feeling of being closer to you than he's been in a long time. His urge to get to you gets stronger.

"Try not to blow your ears out, brother." He hands Jonas his tools.

"Thanks, mate."

He jumps down the last few steps. Turning on the light, he notices the little girl in the pilot seat.

"Hello, skipper." He greets, getting a flashback by saying it and your beautiful face flash across his mind. Meying turns in the seat to him.

"You must be the crazy guy." She tells him.

"Now, who called me that?" Jonas asks.

"My mom. Dr. Heller." She says, remembering the conversation she eavesdropped.

"Yeah, well, I'm not crazy. I've just seen things no one else has."

"That's the definition of crazy." She says giggling. He chuckles at the girl.

"Backup power. Backup power..." He mumbles to himself, looking around.

The little girl turns on the backup power from her seat.

"Mind if i give it a try?" He gestures to the pilot seat.

"Bye." She says.

Walking back to the ladder, she turns to him from the bottom before climbing.

"Hey, crazy." She gets his attention and he turns to look at her. "You here to save my friends?"

"I'm here to save Yn. And that means saving everyone she cares about too. I'll have your friends back in no time. I promise." He tells her. She smiles and leaves the glider.

...

"Thank you." Mac tells the worker who gave him his earpiece.

"Dj?" Mac says, receiving a thumbs up. "Jax, we good?" She nods in answer. "Doc?" Heller gives him a nod too. "Evolution, we are go for dive."

Jonas turns on the glider.

"Fancy." He mumbles looking around at the modern sub.

The gliders notifies the system it is go for descent.

"Hey, brother. We're good to go." Mac tells him.

Jonas doesn't answer, as he just stares into the deepth.

"Jonas?"

He takes a deep breath, thinking about you, and how you need him right now. Then he launches the glider, splashing into the water and diving down.

"Evolution successful launch." The computer announce to the team.

Jonas turns around in his seat, walking to the back. Everyone is watching him from the screens as the sub dives and the computer announcing his telemetry.

"How is he descending so fast?" Zhang asks Jax.

"Looks like he's diverted all nonessential power, like heat and life support, to the motors." She says, reading her screens.

"He's gonna black out."
