The Meg (Jonas x reader)

Chapter 8

You tried to be there for Jonas when things got hard after Heller basically made his life miserable. You've been mad at Heller but have had to push that anger away to be able to work with him. When you tried to help Jonas and be there for him, he had pushes you away. You didn't understand why.

One night, when you had picked him up half asleep and drunk in a bar, you heard him mumble something about that he didn't want you to see him like that. It was very low so you weren't sure.

It had hurt deeply that you didn't get to be there for him, because you had decided the day before that deep water rescue mission, that you were going to admit your feelings for him.

Then all that happened and you didn't want to just say it, until he was better and things were back to normal. But he pushed you away, and then you never got the chance. And you also got the idea that he probably didn't feel the same way, since he didn't even want you there at all.

What you don't know is that on Jonas side of it, he had also decided the day before the mission that he was finally going to admit his feelings for you. (Check out Bonus Chapters.) But after the mission everything went downhill, and Heller made it worse. You had tried to defend him, but when you hadn't seen anything yourself it wasn't easy.

He had postponed his confession for when everything would normalise but it never did, not that he did much to help with that. He drowned his anger, doubts and frustration in alcohol. You had tried to help him, but seeing you look at him with worry and sadness had made him nauseous, which ended up in more drunkenness.

He pushed you away. He didn't know how you felt about him, but he could guess how you must feel about him now as a drunk, and 'crazy' as some would call him. Though it wasn't like that for you, but he had let his own negative thinking take over.

Jonas knew that you deserved so much better. And he didn't want you to see him like that, so he told you to leave and don't come back. But he had just felt like he was slowly fading away when you didn't come see him anymore. When after some time you had suddenly sent him a letter, he was both nervous and excited when he read the sending address with your name on the envelope.

You wrote about how you've been and what's been happening, you asked a few casual questions in the letter to open up for a response. He never did, he had tried to write one time, but realised how pathetic his life was without you. You kept sending letters when you had decided to start travelling, you wrote about where you went and what you did. Then when you got this job through Mac, you wrote letters telling him all about Mana One, your new co-workers and friends here. (Check out Bonus Chapters.)

You stand up and give him a hug. He slowly wraps his arms around you, holding you tightly in the embrace, like he never wants to let go of you. You both sigh deeply in content.

"You need to take a shower." He whispers to you after a long moment.

You abruptly pull away from his embrace, even though it was a bit hard from how tightly he hugged you, and playfully slap him on the shoulder.

"Hey!" You both laugh. "I'm not the only one, mister." You tell him, rolling your eyes and crossing your arms across your chest, but not able to hold back your smile.

"I know, I know." He chuckles. You smile at the feeling of just talking and laughing with him again.

"I'll show you to a dorm." You tell him.

After sending Meying of with her Nanny, who was running around wildly looking for the little girl who keeps sneaking off. You both walk together toward an available dorm for him, you tell him a few necessary details about how to use the fancy shower.

"The shower is voice activated to control the temperature and water pressure." You grin at him.

You reach the dorm and as you are about to go, you see Suyin come around the corner.

"Hello." She says coming up to the two of you. Then looks apologetically at Jonas. "I just want to apologise for before. I was angry and i lose my temper. And you did save my friends. I know you did all you could. So, thank you." She tells him.

"You and your temper." You chuckle. She gives you a playful glare.

"It's okay. I know it's not easy being the person who survives." Jonas says and looks at you, you see the sorrow in his eyes.

"I'm gonna go now." Suyin says, noticing the tension.

Jonas undress and get into the shower, looking up at the shower-head frowning. He glances around, even though he knows he's alone.

"Uh.. Turn on the water?" He hesitantly says.

A strong pressure stream with cold water is sprayed down from the shower-head. He yelps in surprise.

"Jeez, warmer!" He gasps, taking a step back. "And softer."

The temperature rises to something much more comfortable and the pressure softens. He leans against the wall, exhausted after the adrenaline has worn off. He thinks about how it's feeling to be around you again.

After he gets out of the shower and bathroom to change he hears a knock on the door.

"Jonas?" You ask through door. He opens it hearing your voice.

You're surprised to find him standing in the opening, with just a towel. You work hard to keep your eyes only on his face and not his defined chest.

"I see you managed to turn the shower on, I'm proud." You smirk, teasing him. He rolls his eyes at your comment.

"It was definitely an experience."

"I just came by to check on you and tell you we're having a meeting in the conference room. But since you need to change, you can get the AI to give you directions, just ask it when you're ready. Like with the shower."

"Alright."

"Alright, see you there." You say, before you physically have to drag yourself away from the view.
