In ancient times, kingdoms had to deal with many threats from not just other nations and their militaries. Traveling merchants knew of what to expect and hid under trees whenever the winds picked up. The wind would then be muted under the sound of a mighty body flying through the air.
Large parties were always a risk and yet they were done during the day when it was safest.
Dragons, large creatures usually as big as a horse but can grow as big as a castle. Those dragons were classified as Kizuki because they would usually seen at night on a full moon.
They were considered the most deadly of all.
—
"DRAGON!!" A party with flags of a neighboring kingdom was being flown and the warriors were preparing as the escorted royals were beginning to run for the trees.Spears and arrows to the dragon.
"What kind is it?!" The commander asked, squinting to see what coloring the dragon had on it.
The shadow only grew and terror was filling the hearts of the soldiers.
"IT'S A KIZUKI DRAGON!" One soldier started to run and some others followed. When the dragon landed, the ground shook and mighty wings beat before slowing down.
Frost was leaving a large maul and soon people were screaming.
"IT'S UPPERMOON TWO!!"
Ice is blasted and soon soldiers were struggling to get their stuck feet out.
The dragon flares his nostrils, swinging his massive head to the royals, stalking only to huff and switch back to the struggling soldiers.
Colorful eyes twinkle and soon one small soldier was snatched up in its claws.
The commander finally breaks free, sighing in defeat at seeing the dragon fly away.
"Not again." He snaps to the nearest free soldier."SEND A MESSAGE TO THE KING!"
—
The winds were loud as the mighty wings of the dragon beat as the beast flew over mountains before spotting the temple that lay in the valley. It dives straight down landing with a thud lowers it's paw and releases the limp soldier.Snowflakes and wind whip around and soon the dragon was no more, leaving a man with blonde hair walking up to the soldier. Claws easily remove the helmet straps and slip it off.
Instead of a normal male soldier, a woman with blue hair lies unconscious having gotten tired from the journey.
Twinkling rainbow eyes gaze at her as he brushes his claws through her hair.
"Found you again Kotoha-chan~"
—
Dragons had grown fond of human flesh and especially of those from a royal bloodline.Though no one knows why and one can only guess it's something they can smell in their blood.
The kingdom northeast had to deal with one particular dragon.
Uppermoon Two had first snatched Princess Kotoha when she had turned sixteen. Terrifying the king and queen upon hearing that their precious daughter was taken and would likely get eaten.
But then a week later, Kotoha mysteriously appeared at the gates of their castle, shivering and cold. She also carried with her a string of pearls.
Soon it became a trend, the princess would be kidnapped, no matter where she was in the multiple kingdoms, the dragon crashing through walls and trampling through many just to snatch her up.
No one knew the motives of the dragon but the only thing known was that the dragon never hurt her.
—
A few days before-Princess Shinobu of the Butterfly Kingdom gives Kotoha a knife laced with poison.
"It would only be one scratch and the dragon would be paralyzed from the poison. You can then kill it." Kotoha sighs, telling the commander that she wishes to be disguised as a soldier should the dragon come for her.
She left the knife behind.
—
Kotoha wakes to a futon being tucked over her, keeping her warm. She reaches up and tugs on the arm and soon a body willingly falls onto the futon with her. Those colorful eyes are bright and a rumble could be heard.
A light smile comes to her face and she pats the soft hair of the dragon.
"Douma, stay here for a bit."
Douma nods, falling asleep with Kotoha easily.
—
He was meant to eat her. He had eaten plenty of female heirs to many houses and a few princesses over the decades he had been alive.
But none had tugged at his heartstrings like her.
He had wanted to play with her the first time he met her at her sixteenth birthday ball.
She was just too sweet and so-
He took her away.
But she had gotten homesick quickly and so Douma not wanting her to be like that sent her back home.Over the next few years, he would snatch her again and again, able to track her through lingering magic.
Now she was of prime marriage age, he would grab her more and more. frequently in order to chase away any suitors. Especially one that had him nearly transforming into a dragon in the middle of a ball.
Douma didn't because Kotoha was switched over to be his dance partner.
Oh, that. Something humans don't know is how the Kizuki dragons can shift and blend into human society.
His buddy usually does it to fight many great warriors before striking them down. His superior was a guard to the kingdom his lord was currently trying to take over.
He was different, having only shown his human self when he wanted to act normal with Kotoha.
He hoped his courting of the princess was working, he loved her quite a lot.
—
One day, Kotoha would finally confess her own love to the mighty dragon. She had a few requests before she could become his bride and he gladly accepted even if it meant he was going to go on a diet.
How it happened was fun.
The king nearly had a heart attack when his daughter went missing for nearly a year upon the engagement announcement to Prince Kentaro. The dragon known as Uppermoon Two had crashed through and taken her once more.
After everything, they had eloped and Kotoha had given birth to a beautiful baby boy before they returned with the new little prince.
Douma had a fun time showing his fangs and claws to the old king, telling his father-in-law that his daughter was in good hands.
