Nightmare before Christmas and Frozen gave me an idea and this is what came of it. Kind of like the Mythical AU I did the last volume.

Hope you enjoy !

He goes by many names and titles as the centuries go by. There are beings and deities similar to him. He was a branch off of death. It's the only thing that can explain what he brings.

His presence is cold. His footsteps are frost. His eyes are void of any warmth.

He is the chill every creature who needs heat to live feels.

He is the Winter King.

He fakes a smile, even as he is alone in the forest. He walks, and wanders the lands that he brings snow to. He would look back, and see people close their windows and start fires.

His smile is tight, even when he does not care.

That's how it is. He has no one who loved who he was. He was shut out, left to his own devices to bring winter to the lands when the time came.

But there was a brief time. A small time when he does have someone.

Morning chills and evening shivers are what he brings to fall. His fellow deity of fall was the spirit in which people must be. To harden up on resources to be ready for winter.

Akaza was his name but he wasn't the one who made his ice crack.

No, it was springtime.

When the sun finally warmed up the tips of his hair that had become icicles dropped and dried against his skin.

It was the song of birds that announced her arrival. She was often singing with them as the flowers blossom. His influence on the land receding. He soon follows, his gaze focused on the beauty that appears at dawn and he can only enjoy it for a brief time.

Her name was Kotoha and she is the only one that could make his frozen heart crack. She brought spring with her. The green where his frost and snow had once been. She brought life and warmth.

He wanted that. He wanted her warmth and life.
So he took her.

Her warm hands clutch the furs he gives her and she shakes in them as they sit on the floor of his frozen palace of ice. Her nose was red and he could only bring her more furs.

Furs... He thinks they felt better with a touch of cold. Cool compare to when they are warm.

Perhaps the only thing they agree on, admire. It was one of the few things he can enjoy if the air is dry. How slick it feels on his skin.

She thought it was wonderful. Especially as a part of his outfit. He adds it in and it makes him appear larger.

Whatever happened, she seem to enjoy his company as his influence on the land was beginning to show when she wasn't there.

They had an affair when the next deity of the land took notice. He brought heat and drought should he burn too hot. He was fire and sparks flames.

He shattered the ice of his palace with one slash of his blade.

Kotoha stops them from clashing, their powers meant to never meet.

Yoriichi, the god of summer, walks away, warning he would return should he come to find he can't fulfill his duties.

Kotoha leaves his side, his return to the realm of the dead, where they are cold is where he rest till autumn comes.

He waits and waits during winter. He waits as the sun, where Yoriichi retreats during winter, is weak and slow to melt his snow and frost.

He waits his heart harden when he can't bear to be apart from his love.

She had a gift for him the moment the snow began to melt from the trees, revealing the green.

Wrapped in furs so his hands don't freeze skin, he meets his son. A child who would wander at night when he was older, enjoying the cold with his thick fur and shedding it when dawn breaks and the land warms. Taking on the form of a boar and earning the name Inosuke.

He was much like his mother. A true spring child born shortly after winter and soon shown to him.

His love had given him a life and he wanted to dance with her.

Their time is brief with each other, the two months they have with each other before he has to part.

But he enjoys the time he has because his heart feels nice when warm.

Winter King Douma and Spring queen Kotoha make spring child Inosuke. He's adorable when he isn't running around like a skinwalker scaring the locals.
