PROLOGUE

Scarlett Cameron is both the Kook and Pogue princess. She has her foot in both worlds.

Scarlett is the twin sister of the one and only Sarah Cameron. They are the most popular girls on the island because they are pretty and rich and apparently that's all that matters to people now. The twins are the daughters of the richest man in the Outer Banks. Ward Cameron.

Sarah and Scarlett are identical twins. They are the same height, they have the same body, same nose, lips, eyes, face shape. Everything. There is a slight deference between the two girls which is how people tell them apart. But other than the slight differences, they are basically the same person. Their personalities are different, but also the same.

Scarlett has never met her mother. When the twins were born, their mother ran off somewhere. No one knows where she went and no one as seen her since. The eldest sibling, Rafe was the only kid out of the four to meet their mother. He was only about three years old when she left, so he doesn't remember her.

Scarlett is pretty close with her older brother Rafe. They argue a lot and tease each other, but they love each other so much. Rafe is really protective of his little sister, so he hates that she hangs out with the Pogues. Whenever Sarah isn't home, Scarlett will go straight to Rafe's room and hang out with him.

If Rafe isn't home, she goes straight to Wheezie. Scarlett is closer to Sarah and Rafe than she is with Wheezie because she is younger than them. Star tells her brother and twin sister things that she wouldn't be able to tell Wheezie. Scarlett still loves her little sister just as equally as she loves her other siblings though.

Scarlett has a very good relationship with her father. He is always so caring and he would do absolutely anything for his children. He doesn't like that she hangs out with the Pogues at all because he is afraid that she will get hurt, but he just wants her to be happy. He allows her to have freedom, but not too much. All he wants is for her to be safe. Ward couldn't imagine losing his daughter.

Rose Cameron is the step mother of the four Cameron children. She married Ward a couple years back, but none of the kids understood why. She seems like she doesn't really care for them. They think that she married Ward for the money. None of the four Cameron children really like her, but they deal with her. She has been living at Tannyhill with them for so long now that they don't really even think anything of her.

Scarlett and Sarah have an amazing bond. They are inseparable. The twins are definitely the closest out of everyone in the family. They have sleepovers in each others rooms at least once a week and they know everything about each other. Literally everything.

They both used to be brunettes, but in the seventh grade they decided to be rebellious. Their father had told them he loved their brunette hair and that he never wanted them to dye it.

So of course, they went to Walgreens and bought some blonde hair dye. They dyed each others hair while they blasted music and sung together. The finished product of their hair ended up looking horrendous, so they had to admit to their father that they went against him. He took them to the hair salon and they both had their hair dyed blonde. They haven't gone back to brunette ever since.

In the fifth grade, they also both decided they wanted their ears pierced, but Rose said they were too young. That day, Sarah snuck into her fathers office and grabbed a bunch of paper clips while Scarlett went through Roses drawers and found two pairs of earrings for each of the girls and a candle.

They heated up the paper clips and jammed them through their ear lobes. They ended up having infected ears and then had to admit to their father that they had wronged him again.

Though Scarlett is a Kook, the Pogues are her best friends. All the Kooks, including Rafe shame her for being friends with them, but she doesn't care. She loves them and they love her.

Scarlett and John B are like brother and sister. They are constantly fighting and pushing each other around when they get annoyed with each other. John B is really protective over the girl and she hates it, but he will never stop.

Pope and Scarlett are close as well. She thinks of the boy as a brother and she loves him so much. He definitely has a thing for Kiara, but he won't admit it. Scarlett teases him about it very often which results in many glares being thrown at her.

Kie and Scarlett are really good friends. They are super close and would do absolutely anything for each other. They love walking along the beach and saving baby turtles and getting matching tattoos. So far, they both have gotten a small wave tattoo on the inside of their index fingers. Neither of their parents have noticed.

JJ and Star are something else. They are the funniest when they are together because they are usually drunk or high, which results in them doing stupid shit. The Pogues all agree that they are each others twin flame. It's almost like they are the same person but two different genders. They both have a huge thing for each other, but neither of them will admit it. They are too scared of losing each other. Both of them would rather be just friends than not talk to each other at all.
