The next morning, Scarlett didn't know how to distract herself from all of her thoughts, so she got out of bed and went to the bathroom across the hall from Sarah's room. Scarlett washed her face and walked back into Sarah's room.
She knew that she couldn't go back into her room. Her mind would go even more insane than it was already going. It was seven thirty in the morning and John B told her that they would be picking her up on the boat at eight, so she had some time to get ready.
The blonde girl was so tired. Ever since she woke up with that nightmare, which was around midnight, she didn't shut her eyes. Not once. She lay in Sarah's bed for seven hours just drowning in her thoughts.
When Scarlett looked at herself in the mirror, she groaned. Her under eyes were purple and her eyes were all red and puffy from crying.
Scarlett just did her normal makeup routine using Sarah's makeup. Clear eyebrow gel and light mascara. She then stood up and walked over to Sarah's massive closet. The blonde changed into a pair of light blue jean shorts and a light orange cropped tank top with pink Hawaiian flowers on it.
She brushed her hair and her teeth and noticed that the time was eight. She ran outside and saw that the boys were at the end of the dock waiting for her.
"Hey, Star." Rafe walked up to her. He emerged from the garage and saw her.
"What, Rafe?" She crossed her arms, staring at the boy.
"What the hell happened? You look like you've been crying." The Cameron boy took a step forward and Scarlett took a step back, staying away from him.
"I'm fine, okay? I just stayed up too late so my eyes are all weird because I'm tired." She made up an excuse to get him off of her ass. "I have to go. Whatever you want to say, tell me later." She began walking towards the boat.
"What did Rafe want?" Pope questioned when JJ reached his hand out to help Scarlett onto the boat.
"Nothing." She shook her head and everyone stared at her weirdly, wondering why she wasn't being her talkative, funny self.
"Good morning, princess." JJ smiled, bringing her into a hug and giving her a quick his on the forehead.
"Morning, J." She smiled up at him, wrapping her arms around him as well.
"Why are your eyes so red? Are you high? Star, it's like eight thirty in the morning." John B stared at her, squinting his eyes.
"I'm not high. My eyes were just really itchy this morning. I think they are all red and puffed up from allergies." She nodded her head as she took a seat, finally feeling like she could shut her eyes and feel safe as she was with her three favorite boys.
"Uh, oh!" Pope hollered out, causing Scarlett to jump at the sudden loud voice. She fell asleep on the boat without even realizing it.
"You forget your keys or something?" JJ laughed at the girls as they sat there, waiting to be picked up.
"You need a tow?" John B laughed. "You gotta admit it was funny."
"John B." Kie greeted the boy, she didn't sound too happy.
"Uh, what's that?" He questioned as he pulled the boat up to where the girls were sitting on the edge of Heyward's boat.
"Mastermind, huh?" She smiled a little.
"I'm always plannin'."
"Some patriarchal bullshit." Kie deadpanned as she rolled her eyes.
"Yeah, that sucked," Sarah added to Kie's statement, but Scarlett could tell right through her lies. She knew that the plan worked.
