"I'm so glad that they're still doing this." Kie smiled as she, JJ, Pope, and Scarlett all walked through the grass while holding chairs and coolers. "Keep calm. Carry on. Back to OBX life. You know? Aren't you glad I made you come?" Kie questioned her friends as they found a spot to sit.
Kie dragged all of them to come to the OBX Summer Movie Series with her. It's something that someone hosts every year where you bring your own chairs or blankets to sit on and watch a movie on the big screen that they set up.
"Ecstatic." Pope sarcastically spoke, referring to when Kie asked if they were happy she dragged them there.
"My couch was pretty comfy, I'll be honest," JJ muttered as everyone began setting up their stuff.
"I'm happy, Kiki. Thank you for dragging me here. Sarah has been gone all day, so I have literally been so bored." Scarlett smiled at Kie as they set up their chairs and took a seat.
"We're out of the green zone, man," Pope whispered to JJ, but he isn't very good at whispering, so Scarlett heard him and decided to listen in on their conversation.
"Dude, tranquilo, okay?" JJ whispered back to the boy.
"We're in the middle of Kooklandia. This is the last place I wanted to be." Pope was all tense and stiff as he spoke.
"Shut up, Pope," JJ muttered to get the boy to shut up.
Scarlett just rolled her eyes at their nonsense talking and decided to follow Kie to get some drinks from the concession stand.
"Hey, uh... can I get two Pepsis, please?" Kie pulled out some money from her back pocket.
"Make that three, please." Scarlett smiled at the man working the concessions and pulled out three dollars to pay for her drink.
"Sure." The worker went to grab the drinks.
"Hey, Kie. Star." A voice spoke up and Scarlett immediately knew who it was. She turned to face her brother, still very angry with him for what he did. "Hey, what's up?" He stood in front of his sister and her friend. "How are you?"
"I'm fine." Kie rolled her eyes as she spoke to the boy.
"Good, good. Um—"
"What the hell do you want, Rafe? Seriously. Can't you just leave my friends alone?" Scarlett crossed her arms over her chest as she stared at her older brother.
"What do I want? Hm.. that's a good question, Scarlett." He leaned in a said in a low voice. "I want you to tell your boy that we know what he did." He told the two girls.
Scarlett's stomach dropped as she heard those words fall out of her big brother's mouth. They know.
"Sorry, what boy are you talking about?" Kie asked Rafe.
"Uh, he'll know," Rafe said as Kie grabbed her drink and began to walk away.
"You coming?" Kie turned around when she noticed that Scarlett wasn't following her.
"One second." She smiled at her friend to let her know it was okay to walk away. Once Kie was gone, she turned to her brother. "You or any of your little Kook friends lay a hand on Pope, I swear to god will skin each and every one of you. Don't touch him." She narrowed her eyes at her brother, looking up at him since he practically towered over her.
"You can't do shit, Star. Quit acting tough. You couldn't even handle a little hit in the stomach." Rafe smirked at his sister, knowing that would get under her skin.
"Yeah, a little hit, right?" She slightly lifted her shirt, showing her brother the massive purple bruise on her stomach. He gulped when he saw the bruise, feeling bad that he had hurt her like that. "Now, if you touch him or any of my friends tonight, I'll tell Dad that you wasted the generator money on a new bike. How does that sound? He'll boot you right to the cut." She pointed a finger at her brother.
