Sanemi doesn't know how he got here. He's standing face to face with a mermaid, wait — not a mermaid, a merman.

Narrator:

Sanemi never believed the rumours and stories of merfolk. He simple didn't care enough to. His father would always beat his family, the beach was a getaway.

Sanemi made trips to the beach nearby every night, when everyone was asleep and unaware that he was sneaking out.

He was 21 anyway, he could be trusted to take care of himself, right?

Sanemi thought this was going to be a normal trip to the beach, he was shown otherwise when he saw a figure on a nearby rock, just, sitting.

He saw the figure's head turn to his direction and he watched as he dove off the rock. He didn't know where it went, that was before he saw a pair of electric blue eyes staring up at him from the water. The creature slowly raised the top of it's head, revealing it's jet black hair.

Sanemi could see the creature clearly now. From it's pretty and curious face down to it's slim waist, which, in place of it's legs, was a shiny blue tail, matching it's eyes.

Sanemi doesn't know how he got here. He's standing face to face with a mermaid, wait — not a mermaid, a merman.

Sanemi was already in shock. Being proved wrong by seeing an actual merman before him. He was entranced by its eyes, big blue eyes staring at his. Suddenly the merman made a chirping sound, almost as if it was curious. It slowly lifted itself out of the water and into the sand, falling face first.

Sanemi chuckled and helped it raise its's head. He dusted off the sand from its face and helped it back into the water. The merman refused to swim away and went back to Sanemi. It made the same chirp as it did before. "My name is Sanemi." He said, trying to communicate with the merman. It cocked it's head in response, unsure what Sanemi was saying.

Sanemi soon understood that the creature didn't know English. Sanemi would have to teach it.

Sanemi had an idea and used a stick to draw in the sand. He carved his name into the sand and showed the merman. "Sanemi." He pointed to his name and then at him. The merman's eyes lit up and took the stick aswell. It also drew it's name in the sand.

Giyuu.

He grinned at Sanemi as he read it out. Giyuu let out chirps and trills of happiness. He then tried to say Sanemi's name. "Sss..." Giyuu stuttered. "Saaa... Nemmm..." He furrowed his eyes brows in frustration and determination.
"Saa-nemmmmi!" It chirped and Sanemi chuckled as it clapped at itself.
