SHYLA

"Help me J! It's so dark in here!"

"Wait a minute Shyla. I promise I'll be there soon. Just stay in the call okay?"

"Yes but J-"

The phone call cut off as the room echoed with laughters.

"Oh god Shyla! You really scared the hell out of him."

"Shut up Lessie. I'm not having a good feeling about this. This prank is too much."

"Common Shyla! Remember the other day when he scared the hell out of you by pushing you into the pool even when he knew that you can't swim? You should atleast take a revenge."

"I know. But-"

"Okay now stop it. Let's wait for him. I'm gonna love his terrified face when he comes here."

📞...

"Hello?"

"Hello Ms. This call is from the xxx hospital. The person whose phone is this is admitted into the hospital after a major accident."

"WHAT?"

______________________________________________________________________

A shiver ran down my spine when I remembered that day. That call from the hospital. The last call I ever got from his phone. The last time I saw his face. The day which made me hate myself more than anything. The day I regretted doing that prank. The day when he left me.

"We can prank him right?" The little girl standing infront of me asked with a mischievous smile on her face.

I knelt down to reach her eyes.

"Never prank anyone kiddo. You never know how it can change your life in a minute." I said in a slow voice as she blinked her eyes in confusion.

I was standing near the beach to watch the sunrise when this little girl came to me and asked me to join her in a prank which she was going to do with her elder brother who looked like a year older than her.

"Go and help your brother to complete that sandcastle which he is making there. And if you say so, I'll help you guys to make the sandcastle instead. But no pranks okay?" I said as she showed her angelic smile and nodded her head.

She ran away with her little steps, her ponytail moving in a to and fro manner. I smiled seeing her joining his brother to make the sandcastle.

"Wanna make a sandcastle?" I turned to see Evan standing behind me. He was wearing a blue shirt with white jeans with his brown eyes shining because of the sun rays as the sun was finally coming out. He looked no less than a dream.

"A sandcastle? Have you ever made one?" I asked him and he chuckled.

"A lot of times. My sister loves to build sandcastles. So I take her to the beach every weekend and help her in making it." He replied. He never told me about his sister. He never even told me about his family. This is the first time I heard him talking about one of his family members.

"You have a sister? Does she live in New York?" I asked as he nodded in response.

"Do you know how to make a sand heart?"
He said and intensely stared at me.

"What is that?" I asked with confusion.

"My sister taught me about this. Now let me teach you." He said as he dragged me a little closer to the sea. We both knelt down and I watched him digging into the sand.
