SHYLA

The morning looked pleasantly chilly as I walked through the corridor of the University. The tiny drops of the rain are still falling, making the trees look engraved with diamonds. The petrichor scent of the soil surrounding the environment while the students are scattered around each corner of the campus with an umbrella in their hands.

My eyes fell on Linda and Avelin who were busy with the assignments of the next lecture as they were sitting in one of the benches near the garden.

My lips formed a smile as I walked towards them.

"Rainy weather and the best cookies made my Shyla Gilbert. How does that sound girls?"

I said while smiling cheekily and flipping my hair backwards.

Linda stood up as she brought back the part of my hair back to the front leaving me dumbfounded.

"Rainy weather and a lots of assignments to complete. How does that sound?"

She said with a hint of sarcasm in her tone and crossed her arms in front of her chest.

Avelin let out a small chuckle while her eyes were still locked on the laptop.

"Assignments can be done later. Besides we have to submit it in the next week right?"

I said while sitting down beside Avelin and hugging her from the side.

Linda sat next to me leaving no space to breath as she joined the hug.

"So, when is advertisement of the designs coming out Shyla?"

Linda asked me as she rested her head on my shoulder.

My mind instantly flashed back to the phone call I had with Jacob the day before. He called me to meet him at his office probably by afternoon but I decided not to go. It's still 9 am now and I am still sticking onto my decision to not go there.

It's not like I am scared to face him, but something inside me is keeping me back from doing it. I don't know if it's the past that we shared or the present where I am unwilling to accept with him.

"Not sure about the date. But somewhere in between the next month."

I said to her as she nodded her head.

I looked at Avelin to see her already looking at me with her deep and captivating eyes. She looked like she wanted to say something but she didn't as turned her attention towards her laptop.

"So are you going somewhere today?"
She asked me while keeping her gaze fixed at her laptop.

I narrowed my eyebrows in confusion as I looked at her with questioning eyes.

"Where am I supposed to go Ave?"

I asked her as she shrugged before replying.

"I was just asking you."

She said as her fingers consistently moved through the keyboard of the laptop as typed down the assignments.

Avelin's behaviour from the past days is somewhat leaving me with a lot of questions. She always look at me like she wanted to tell me a lot of things but never actually opened it to me. I looked at her for some moment before a voice interrupted my thoughts.

"Hey Shyla! Mrs. Rodriguez wants you in her office."

I looked up at the person as I saw the a guy with red sweatshirt and white trousers. The glasses in his eyes slightly wet probably due to the light rain. His name was Killian Murphy. Popularly known as the nerd of the University. And also known to have a huge crush on me since high school. Yes, we both went to the same high school and probably applied to the same University for our same interests in the field of fashion designing.
But many people think that he is obsessed with me to the point that he followed me here to this University. And those many people are no other than my two lovely best friends.
