"Yes mom! You don't have to worry about it. I'll be alright." Being a girl who shares every single incident with my mother, here I was sitting inside a beautiful resort in Bali, while telling her everything that has been happening in my life lately over phone. She is the one who listens to me, as in understands me more than anyone else. The best thing God can gift you is understanding parents and loving friends. And I have both for which I can't be more grateful.
Dad is the type of person who always makes sure that I go through every problem with a smile on my face. He makes sure that the smile never goes out of my lips. Just like now, I can here him singing a weird song from the other side of the phone. I laughed heartily hearing his voice.
My parents were deeply connected with Jacob. He had a great bond with them. But after his death, I was not the only one who was deeply affected. There were my parents who were affected too. But that didn't stop them from making sure that I am okay. I went into depression for a year but they were the one who helped me out of it. No doctors, no pills, no therapists, just my parents. They gave me a life again without even knowing it.
"Mr. Gilbert, I am giving your name for the upcoming singing events which will be held in our institution." Linda said while laughing hard.
"Oh sure sweetheart. I would be grateful." Dad replied but soon mom interrupted.
"Linda, I hope you don't want your institution to throw out Shyla! Because if he goes and sings there, then I'm sure they will throw both dad and daughter out of the place" Mom said as I heard both of them bickering on the other side for some minutes.
Linda and Ave were already laughing and rolling in the bed.
"Okay mom and dad. We'll be back to New York in some days. Till then wait for my call. I love you both." I said with a smile as I heard their response.
"See ya! Come back soon. Home is waiting."
I smiled. That's their signature dialogue whenever they cut the call, or whenever I go somewhere outside."Home is waiting"- Three words which hold a lot of emotions in it. It means that no matter where you go, your home, your loved ones are always waiting for you to come back.
I cut the call as I took a deep breath. I miss my parents so much.
"Bitch! You better be joking." My thoughts were interrupted when I heard Linda's voice. She was now standing with her hands placed in either side of her waist glaring at Ave.
"What happened guys?" I said as I moved closer to them.
"This woman met Marcus Wilson yesterday night. And they both even talked for some minutes." She said as my eyes instantly snapped towards Avelin who looked horrified.
"I didn't go to meet him. I just went for a walk and happened to see him. He started the conversation and I had no choice rather than joining him." She said avoiding any kind of eye contact.
"And do you guys know! That person knows everything about my family. He even asked about my dad and my brother! He is hell of a dangerous man." She said as our eyes widened. Ave keeps her personal life very personal. It's me and Linda who are the only ones to know about her. And it shocks me to death that Marcus Wilson knows about Ave's personal life. That person probably knows about mine and Linda's personal life too. I wonder how dangerous that man is.
"Woah. Is he a crime detective or a serial killer?" Linda asked as she sat down beside Ave in the bed.
"Maybe both." I replied as I sat on the other side too.
