SHYLA

My fingers hurriedly worked through the keyboard of the laptop as I was searching for all the social media accounts of Jacob. The rigidity in my mind increases as it cannot ponder anything else except for the encounter which I had with him today. Five years back from now, the person whose corpse was lying in front of me, stood exactly in front of me today just like before.

There wasn't a single thing which changed in him. His eyes looked at me just like the way they used to in the past. His dimple which was once a delight for my eyes to watch appeared when he smiled at me today. But the difference is that, my eyes will never look at him the same again. The eyes which loved to see him near me have experienced a lot in the past to accept the reality that he came back. Every tear which I have let fall from my eyes has already disappeared somewhere and there is nothing I can do to bring them back whenever I see him again.

The heart which has suffered from the last few years, has been acquainted with the pain so much that it is near to impossible for me to accept him back again.

The heart, in which Evan's name is engraved so deeply that there is no room for it to fall in love with Jacob Roy again.

My thoughts got interrupted when I saw the door opening, and Avelin walking inside hurriedly. The sweat in her face and fast breathing indicating that she ran to home.
Her steps came towards me in an instant as she sat beside me with a worried expression.

I instantly shut down my laptop screen. My eyebrows twitched in confusion as I waited for her to speak. After minutes of panting heavily she finally spoke to me.

"Are you okay?" She asked still gasping for air.

I instantly got up and brought a glass of water for her to calm down her breathing.

She gulped down the whole glass in seconds and looked at me.

"Did you run or something?" I asked her while raising my eyebrows in confusion.

"Well, I was just jogging. I missed it this morning so..." She answered while shrugging which did not convince me at all. I narrowed my eyebrows as I looked at her clearly telling her that I am not satisfied with this answer.

She wiped down her sweat with a towel as she took a deep breath.

"I just saw some dogs in the street. Those babies turned out to be monsters and started chasing me. So I ran towards here." She said as a small chuckle left my mouth instantly.

"Grow up, Avelin." I said as I ruffled her hairs which were wet due to the sweat with a smile on my face.

"What about the advertisement? Did you meet the investor of that company?"
She asked me as my mind can't stop but wondered if I should tell her about my encounter with Jacob today.

The little voice inside me told me to not let her know about this which will make her and Linda worry about me again. After a long argument with myself, I finally decided to not tell her about this.

Jacob Roy only met me. There's nothing more he can do. Right?

"Yeah I did. It went well." I told her while forcing out the smile on my lips. Her deep black eyes stared at me for some time before she finally nodded. She got up and walked into the washroom as I sighed in relief.

RYAN

Her round eyes looked at me widely as her rosy lips parted a bit. She blinked a few times before bursting into laughter. She laughed out loud while leaning back into the seat.
