I quickly pretended as if I was crying to shift the attention off Nkanyezi and unto me.

"Hey baba, I didn't think I would meet you under these grounds. I was crying and Nkanyezi was consoling me." I said as I wiped off imaginary tears. Bab Gumede cleared his throat and stepped away from the door. We both stepped out of the vehicle so I could properly give him a handshake.

He examined my hand for an awkward minute and I almost pulled it back before he finally shook it.

"Are you good ntombi. Are you Phiwo? I only know you from my visions" he said. He tried giving me a smile but I could tell that it was forced. I had no reason trying to impress this man cause him and my dad are the reason why I'm forced into marrying Wandile.

"I'm good baba. I'll be much better once your son stops making me his punching bag though." I said, looking at the ground so I can smile in peace.

"What are you telling me?" he asked, with shock evident on his face.

"That's a story for another day baba." I said. He shook his head and placed his hands in his pocket. Nkanyezi awkwardly leaned on the car's frame.

"Well, I wanted you to join us for dinner at the hotel we're staying in. But I think it would be much better if we came to your house later tonight." he said. He didn't even wait for my confirmation. He shook my hand for the last time and walked off with a cane on his hand.

"That's my dad for you." he said. We looked at each other and he leaned in to give me a hug but I stepped back.

"What happened, can never happen again Nka. You're my brother-in-law for Christ's sake and-"

"Please stop explaining, you're making it worse." he said as he brushed his head and walked off leaving me standing by the car.

I walked to the tent and found Thandiswa seated with Lizalise. This was our que to leave. I gave Sinikiwe her gift and took my overnight bag before leaving. On the way to the car I told Thandiswa about my encounter with Bab Gumede. I even told her about the almost kiss that we had. I told her because I know that she's not judgemental.
