"You're late, for the third time this week." my manager said. I thought I had successfully managed to sneak into the kitchen without getting caught.
I could already tell that I was not going to be having a good day. Once again, I slept late thinking about what I'm going to be wearing for the memulo that Wandile invited me to. He had told me that the theme for the after party is baby blue and his cousin wants class.
From what I've learnt in the past week, Wandile's mother, MaNgcobo, only birthed boys. He has a younger brother who is just a year older than me.
"Are you daydreaming again? I've been talking to you for the past two minutes-"
"I'm sorry mphathi, I'll pick up extra shifts here at work and I'll be the last one to cash up and leave." I pleaded. I really need this job, I know that Shantell wont fire me, I've been voted the most friendliest waitress at this restaurant and I bring in the most tips.
"Phiwokuhle, I've been too lenient and I've thought about this decision long and hard-"
"No" I said. I already knew what she was going to say, she cannot fire me.
"I'm going to have to fire you, leave your uniform back in the employee lounge and hand over your locker key when you're done. You'll get the pay that you deserve for the duration that you've worked for this month, either than that- enjoy the rest of your day."
I gave the manager one last smile before walking to the break room. Ever since Wandile came into my life, everything has changed drastically. I blame him for this, I will ruin this engagement in every way possible to the point that he is the one who is calling it off. Wandile will know who I am.
I'm now going to have to start using up my savings. I have just under R80k saved that I have gotten from both the catering business and working at this restaurant. I was supposed to use some of that money to pay a deposit for a second hand van for my business and another portion to fund my fees. I want to enroll in a college and study part-time for a business management degree.
SO believe me when I say, I really need this job. I know what most of you must be thinking, I can ask my daddy- but see that's the thing. I wanted this to be my own win. I wanted to prove to him that I can do this without depending on him. It turns out that I do need some assistance after all, but my dad is the last person that I'm going to call.
Let's put Wandile to use....

Just as I finished clearing up the little things that I had inside the staff room, I received a text informing me to meet his brother in the parking lot. I was give the specs of the car he's driving. It was going to be my first time meeting his brother, way to make a great first impression.
The sun blinded my eyes as I stepped out on the parking lot. They did not even make me continue the rest of my shift and I will only receive my payment on pay day, which is two weeks away from today.
