THEMBINKOSI MTHEMBU AS NKOSINATHI MAZIBUKO

As soon as I turned over, I patted the space on the bed next to me and it was empty. It has been two days after the incident and Wandile has been avoiding me. In these two days he has been leaving for work in the AM's and arriving late at night when I'm fast asleep- and I don't even sleep that late. I decided to move my things back to the spare room because Wandile's parents left yesterday afternoon after they dragged the kids and I to church.

After taking my clothes over to the  next room, I took a shower and wore a black bodycon dress and a pink suit. It was my first day as the manager and co-owner at the restaurant today. I had to look the part. I found Sis Thandi making breakfast for the kids and I told her to add a plate for me.

"Hello babies", I greeted.

"Hey ncane." they responded. Their eyes were glued to the screen in front of them. They were watching Disney Junior. I had to do something about that, I want to decrease their screen time so they can direct all that energy towards something more positive.

I need to buy a recipe book for Sis Thandi because we can't be having basic breakfasts like eggs and bacon.

After we finished the breakfast, I dropped off the kids at their school and gave Sbani R20 and Lizalise R10.

"Mommy said we should be treated equally ncane, so both of us must get R20" Sbani said, speaking for his brother.

"Well, I'm not mommy baby, and these are my rules." I said as I fixed the straps on Lizalise's backpack. I watched them enter the school premises. I then drove to the restaurant, today I just wanted to see how they operate.

I decided to park in the customer's parking lot because I did not have an access card yet. When I walked in, the place was busy as usual given that it was also a hotel. I walked in to the reception at Emazweni Hotel & Restaurant. You could see that this place had a male's touch. It was cold and too formal. My idea of a hotel is a place that's supposed to feel like your home away from home. You're supposed to be welcomed by friendly faces and an aesthetic place.

"Hey ma'am, how can I help you?", a tall and handsome, light-skinned guy who looked to be in his 30s asked. He was wearing a white polo shirt and  black pants.

"Hey, I'm Miss Maphumulo. Co-owner of this place, I just wanted to grab lunch here and discuss a few things with the manager."

"Mrs Gumede?" he asked

"Well- same thing" I said

"Well, I'm the manager. Mr Gumede did not tell me that you're going to be stopping by here today and we have quite a busy morning because of our breakfast special."
