QOTC- "True friends are the ones who shine like stars in your darkest nights, guiding you through the shadows, offering comfort, and becoming the family you choose along the journey of life."

I was on an Uber with Thandiswa on my way to the car dealership. Today is the day I finally get my own car and I'm happy that my best friend was here to share that special moment with me. I hopped out of the Uber and gave the Uber driver a R50 tip cause I won't be using these means of transport a lot these days and I'm happy.

We arrived in Pinetown to fetch my car. Thandiswa was b y my side as I signed all the paperwork. It was a 2011 Isuzu double cab, I did say I want a van so it can help with  my catering business. I haven't been focusing a lot on that lately.

After the whole big reveal and removing the red ribbon, I started crying. My hard work has finally paid off. I have something that I can call mine.

"I'm so proud of you my love." Thandiswa said crying along with me. Our very first destination was going to be home, back eMzinyathi. We were blasting Joyous Celebration on the way home, I had already called MaZungu and told her that we're coming over but I did not tell her about the car.

When we arrived, I found her outside carrying a bowl. She was wearing a headwrap and pinafore dress  njengenjwayelo.

She first stood in front of the verandah, confused as hell as to who was coming in. She squinted her eyes and was able to make out who it was,

"Hhawu, hhawu MaZikode wami," she started ululating. My dad stepped out the house, still wearing his vest and boxer shorts.

I started hooting loudly and they started ukugiya in front of the car. I stepped out of the car, forgetting that I should have stopped somewhere and bought groceries.

"Mashimane, Doncabe, Zikode, asbonge ndodakazi" my dad said coming to hug me. I returned the hug and smiled into it. After hugging my dad, I went straight to MaZungu and we both cried into the hug.

After making light conversations outside, we stepped inside the house and sat on the dining room table. MaZungu  had prepared my favourite meal, ujeqe and umgxabhiso.

"Aike MaZikode, usebenzile. We going to burn impepho and have a small intimate lunch as a family. Unjani umkhonyana?" he asked

"Leso sihlama.", i said clicking my tongue.

"Aibo Phiwokuhle, we don't talk like that in this household," MaZungu warned.

"Ngyaxolisa baba. I've just been going through a lot in that household, I decided to move out about two days ago and he has not even called to ask where I am."

"Your mom has filled me in on everything that's been going on, you don't deserve it my baby, and I'm sorry that you're going through so much because of me."

I nodded my head and started a new topic so we can close this one off. After sitting together for over two hours, we burnt impepho and I promised to visit more often.
