08 || should've known
I was back in school the next day and waiting for Alexis to show up. she said she had something important to tell me so I stood in front of the school building waiting for Aaron's car to pull up.
the warning bell went off and everyone that lingered on the school steps gathered their things and headed inside. aaron's car was nowhere in sight. I hadn't seen shawn either. he either was inside and got here before I did or hadn't shown up at all, I definitively would have seen him walk in.
I sent out a text to alexis and when I lifted my head up and tore my eyes away from the screen I saw Shawn walking towards me. a smile tugged at the corner of my lips and right when I thought he'd stop and say something, he kept walking past me and into the building. I stood there dumbfounded and confused. what suddenly crawled up his ass?
aaron soon showed up and alexis hopped out and came running towards me with a smile. she squealed once she was pretty close. "Scar!!"
a giggle fell from my lips at her excitement. I could see sammy and aaron walking beside each other slowly and deep in conversation. sammy's eyes met mine for a second and he smirked, but I quickly looked away and back at alexis.
"hey." I smiled, pulling her into a hug. she hugged me back then began walking beside me and past the school doors. "what'd you need to tell me? by the way, first bell rang."
"shit.." she cursed then grabbed my hand, putting a pep into her step and forcing me to catch up.
we hurried in silence and when we finally reached our lockers she dropped my hand and messed with her lock. I did the same as she spoke.
"so, you know how taylor had that party?" she asked while collecting her books. I exchanged books and made sure I had all the materials I needed, which basically consisted of two binders and one textbook.
"yeah." I said while zipping up my book bag.
"jack and sammy are hosting another one, and they invited you."
I sighed before parting my lips to speak. "you mean sammy invited me."
we swung our bags over our shoulders and walked towards our home rooms while she spoke.
"basically, but that's good, scar. he has this cute little crush on you. I mean he isn't ugly.."
"I don't know."
we stopped in front of my homeroom door and alexis crossed her arms over her chest.
"scuse me." a voice said from behind alexis. she stepped aside and allowed Shawn to walk through the door.
my eyes were glued to him as he walked inside, but not once did he make eye contact with me. my eyebrows furrowed in confusion and I could feel myself frown.
"who's that? you don't want to go because of him, right? john?"
"it's shawn." I mumbled, head hanging low.
"you like hi-" final bell had rung and alexis cussed under her breath.
"we'll talk about this later." she raised an eyebrow then hurried off to class.
"I do not!" I yelled then spun around and walked into the room.

this situation with shawn confused me. I thought maybe he was testing me, pushing me to finally be the one to say something first. but it felt more like he was avoiding me.
I decided to speak to him during lunch, which was a period away and overthinking was getting me nowhere.
then I thought it could be that he was just having a bad day and wasn't in the mood for conversation. that was completely shot down when I saw him talking to and laughing with some brunette with pale skin, red lipstick in the halls after the bell rang.
I crossed my arms over my chest in frustration, the same alexis had done this morning. for a second shawn and I locked eyes, but this time I wasn't smiling I was shaking my head. he wasn't bothered by this though, instead he put his attention back towards the brunette that never stopped talking.
If this is the sort of game shawn is looking to play he can shove it up his rear end because I have enough to deal with.
what hurt the most was the fact I shared an important piece of me with him, something I hadn't shared with anyone in this school till that day he wanted to take me somewhere "special."
should've known better than to get mixed up with a boy.
