Yuka:
I woke to Ryo being there beside me yet again and I was glad. It meant she never left me alone last night. I blushed, remembering what had happened the night before. How I had admitted my fear of being alone.
I got up slowly, and quietly left the room, making sure Ryo was still sleeping before I left.
I ran into the healer's assistant who showed me the way after making sure my wounds were well enough for me to travel on my own.
I walked along the streets of the town and noticed how close the castle was. I could barely see it in the distance, but it was there.
"It's too soon." I muttered and shook my head, scuffing the dirt beneath my feet.
"What is?"
I turned to see Ryo standing behind me. She smiled sheepishly with her hands in her pockets. Her hair was tousled lazily and she had changed into a tan tunic that stopped at the shoulders and dark brown leather pants under her boots.
I turned away. "Reaching the castle." I muttered again. I heard Ryo step closer but kept walking.
"I don't want to go to the castle. I don't want to marry Raido. I don't want to leave my life at my castle. I don't want to leave Father." I sighed and whispered. "I don't want to leave you."
I gasped as Ryo's arms encircled my waist and her breath tickled my breath. "You don't have to leave me."
I shuddered and she began chuckling. "I can still be your bodyguard." I relaxed and she continued. "With benefits."
I froze and she began laughing. I turned to her and was surprised to see her smiling. Smiling widely and happily, laughing easily. This wasn't the Ryo I had first met.
I smiled tentatively. Testing it out and making sure she wouldn't stop if I joined in. I began laughing as well even though the joke had been on me.
Eventually we stopped and Ryo sighed, she was smile was small, but there. "We better head back. Kita will want to check our wounds before we leave." She stood and began walking away.
"Our?" I called out questioningly.
She froze before turning and with a sloppy grin. "Whoops. I meant yours." I looked at the ground embarrassed. Good going, Ryo. You didn't even mean to yet you made me feel weak.
She kept walking and I had run to catch up, but once I did, I fell against her for support. I felt a sticky liquid run down my waist and realized I had accidentally reopened my wounds.
She sighed before sweeping me off my feet into her arms. I gasped and blushed. "Tch. You should be more careful. I don't like to see you hurt."
Although Ryo looked away as she spoke, I could've sworn I saw the faintest trace if a blush. I smiled slyly and she glanced at me. She shook her head and carried me back to the healers, despite the odd looks people gave us as she walked by.
"Yuki, Yuki, Yuki..." Kita scolded me and chanted my fake name softly as she stitched me up. I winced and squeezed Ryo's hand.
Kita hadn't wanted to stitch me, but she figured I would most likely reopen the wounds while traveling so she had to.
I bit my lip and took another swig of the alcohol Ryo had given me. It didn't taste so bad and it numbed the pain so I kept drinking.
Ryo gently took it away from me and shook her head as I pouted. "Yuka, you have never drank alcohol before. You most defiantly will be drunk with how much you have had."
"What do youuuuuu mean?" I slurred and almost fell as Kita finished up and left.
"Give that back!" I snapped and lunged at Ryo. Ryo simply lifted her foot and caught me in the chest. I struggled against it and tried to grab the bottle that Ryo held away from me.
"Grr. I will get it!" I dropped to the ground and jumped. Ryo looked up in surprise as I attacked from above. But my mouth missed the bottle and hit something else instead.
I moved my mouth around, trying to figure out what I was touching. It was soft yet hard at the same time and most definitely smooth. I opened my mouth to lick it and see if it tasted as good as it felt. It did. But before I could continue I was thrown back.
I looked up to see a ferociously blushing Ryo sitting in her chair, looking like she was about to have a heart attack. My eyes widened as I realized what I had done.
I had kissed Ryo by accident.
I began to blush just as bad as Ryo and stood on uneasy legs. I slowly made my way to the bed because I had suddenly become really really tired.
I licked my lips.
"You taste good, Ryo."
Then I succumbed to the welcoming darkness.
