Sorry for how long it's taken me to update. My iPod was having some trouble and wasn't sending me my notifications of reads or stars so I honestly thought no one was reading this.
Also, it was taken away from me for being written up about something that wasn't my fault.
But I got it back and it's working now thankfully (sorta) and I want to thank all of those who haven't been mentioned for staring and reading my story.
It means so much to me when people star my stories and actually like them as much I like writing them.
I will do my best to post more chapters when I can.
Again, thank you!
Love,
Steph**A little warning about this chapter, it's very hectic so the points of views will switch back and forth between Ryo and Yuka.
You have been warned!**
Ryo:
I strayed away from Yuka as she instinctively reached for as the castle shook once again.
I growled under my breath and braced myself against the wall, waiting for the shaking to still momentarily.
When it did, we took off down the hall.
Suon had finished our strategy and Yuka and I were doing our part.
Yuka was to stay inside and help evacuate all civilians while I went outside and supported our soldiers.
We paused as we reached the spot where we would have to part ways.
I wanted so badly to touch her and hold her, but the incident from earlier weighed heavily on my mind and cut me deeply every time I saw her.
I gave into myself and grabbed her by the waist, pulling her up against me and pressing my lips to hers.
She melted against me and kissed me back. I had to hold myself back from going further as she pressed herself against me, causing my brain to malfunction and go haywire.
"I love you, Yuka. Please don't die." I whispered as I put my mouth beside her ear. "That's an order."
I released from my grip and forced myself to run as fast as I could to the stables, not only to get some distance from Yuka, but to get myself over to the battlefield.
I quickly saddled and mounted Shade before immediately peeling off toward where the army had gathered.
He came to a halt at the back of our lines, allowing me a look at our army and the enemies.
We had the advantage of home territory, but they had the advantage of numbers.
The opposing army's yellow banner flew high above their ranks. The silver raven ready for flight.
The blue banner of our army flew above my head and scattered throughout the ranks of our army. The white wolf's head thrown back in a howl ready for a fight.
The catapults halted their assault and a lone rider rode out to the middle of the neutral zone, obviously waiting for me.
I nudged Shade with my heel and he started forward, the ranks shifting to the side so we could get through.
Yuka:
I ran from room to room, making sure that they were all empty and no servant or mouse was hiding inside.
So far so good...
I opened the door to the next room and fell backwards as something fell against me.
I coughed, struggling to breathe beneath the weight on my chest.
I pushed the weight off me and gasped for air before rolling over to see what it was and screaming.
Ryo:
We stood silently, eyeing each other warily, waiting for the other to make the first move.
Shade nickered softly and pawed at the earth impatiently.
I stroked his side and rested my hand on the hilt of my sword, not letting my eyes leave that of my enemy.
Reluctantly the man nudged his horses side and moved forward slowly.
Proud of myself for my patience at certain times, I allowed Shade to advance forward as well.
Yuka:
The body lay beside me, it's skin pale and eyes wide, frozen with fear.
I felt bile rise to the back of my throat and I rolled over away from it.
It was the body of a child. A little girl. A knife thrust through her chest. it was obvious she must've walked in on something she wasn't supposed to.
I forced myself up and tried not to throw up as I ran back to the map room where Suon awaited.
There is a traitor among us!
Ryo:
We stopped a ten feet away from another. Close enough so we could see the other and hear them clearly, yet far enough that an attack could not be made easily and could be blocked or dodged.
He took off his helmet and out it against his side before addressing me.
"Queen Ryoday, I am King Alikamir." He announced.
I looked back at him evenly, knowing that my gaze was hard and held a cold edge.
"I know who you, King Alikamir. I also know what you want and I can already tell you can't have them." I replied.
He raised an eyebrow at me.
"On really?" He asked curiously, amused.
"You want my wife, Queen Yuka, and my son Prince Tobias, to be handed over to you." I stated.
His face hardened, signaling that I was right.
"You can't have them." I growled, placing my hand upon my sword.
