Yuka:
I began to panic once Ryo's eyes closed but thankfully Dreyar had gotten a healer.
The healer ushered me out of the room and I sobbed into Dreyar's chest.
"Everything will be okay, ma'am. General Ryoday is a strog woman. And she loved you too much to leave you behind." I sobbed harder as he spoke and he stroked my hair awkwardly.
"You have no experience with women do you?" I laughed weakly at him.
He blushed and shook his head. I pushed myself away and wiped my eyes.
"Milady..." Dreyar started.
"Call me Yuka, please, thanks to you, Ryo may live. I am indebted to you." I bowed to him and his eyes widened.
"Yuka, I hate to have you do this at such a time, but you must speak with the people." Dreyar finished.
"Will Suon be there?" I asked.
"Yes. Along with Raido." Dreyar replied. I nodded and went over to Ryo's room. I kicked Dreyar out and changed into an elegant dark purple gown.
I would've preferred to wear a casual, plain dress, but I knew the public would want me to look pretty or at least the children would.
I left the room and allowed Dreyar to escort me outside of the castle into the town. Well, it was inside the town, but also connected to the castle.
I think it was supposed to be a garden. But there were no flowers or children playing. It was all stone and gargoyles. I shivered as I stood in between Raido and Suon.
Thankfully no one had arrived yet so I had a few minutes to talk with them and get my bearings.
"What am I supposed to talk about?" I asked them.
"Just let them know about the Queen's passing, and that the future rulers have not been decided yet." Raido answered.
"Why am I talking to them then?" I asked angrily. I didn't want to talk in front of a bunch of people I didn't know and had no connection with.
"You have to introduce yourself to them. Many want you and Ryo to be the future rulers." Raido shrugged it off.
"I thought you wanted to be King." I said to him.
"My child self did. The older I became the more of a hassle it turned out to be. I'd rather seduce woman and play cards than be King." He shrugged again and I nodded, showing him I understood.
I turned back around and saw that the people had finally gathered.
Dreyar stepped forward.
"Presenting! Prince Raido Nathaniel Kuran. Prince Suon Alexander Kuran. And Princess Yuka Calla Igneel." Dreyar stepped back and I stepped forward.
"Thank you, Dreyar. As you now know, I am Princess Yuka. Also known as Princess Ryoday's fiancé. I will tell you now that it is true. I am her fiancé." I paused to let the uproar in the crowd die down before I continued.
"I'm sad to inform that it is also true that our beloved Queen has passed away. She was murdered by a man named Toby Fernandez." This time the uproar was louder and Dreyar had to tell to get them to quiet down.
"The hanging will be tomorrow. Because of the Queen's death, discussions of the future rulers of this kingdom are being held, but nothing is official. I am sorry to give you all of this bad news especially since i just met you all, but I hope that in the future I will have something good to tell you. That is all." I left the gardens with Raido and Suon flanking me and Dreyar following close behind.
"Dreyar?" I said suddenly as we walked through the halls.
"Yes?"
"I want the concrete in the gardens torn apart after the hanging. I want to get some flowers and trees and anything colorful in there."
"Consider it done." I heard his foot steps disappear down a different hallway.
"Raido?"
"Yeah?"
"I want you to summon all of the Council Members. Discussions of the future rulers must be dealt with quickly." He left my side without an answer but I knew he was helping.
"Suon, I need you to go find Dreyar and tell him to come see me after he is done. After that, I want you to go get some rest." I turned to him.
There were dark bags under his eyes and his coughing had worsened.
"I will send a healer to your room later. Go." I teasingly pushed him in the direction of where Dreyar disappeared and he smiled weakly before leaving.
I turned and made my way to my room where Ryo was being held.
I knocked on the door and was thankful and relieved to hear Ryo's voice say, "Come in."
I entered the room and a big grin spread across my face as I looked at her. She was sitting up without help and her skin was no longer pale.
Tears coursed down my face as I smiled at her. "I'm so glad you're okay!" I ran over and hugged her, careful not to hurt her.
"Me too." She mumbled into my hair.
