Chapter Twenty Three

In an alleyway across the street Eddie was watching Gwen and Harry talk to Spider-Man. He couldn't make out what they were saying. He got closer and took some photos to send to the Daily Bugle to get his job back. He saw Spider-Man leave and he decided to follow.

Spider-Man began swinging off. He started thinking about what just happened. "We are a hero." Said the voice in his head. "We are the best hero that there ever is." Spider-Man just kept swinging. "We don't need anyone. Spider-Man landed on the side of the building. "We don't need Harry. We don't need Gwen. We don't need..." Spider-Man leaped off the building. "Woah! That's not what I thought. We need Harry and Gwen. We need Victoria. And We definitely need Aunt May. Why am I saying we instead of I?" Peter thought to himself as he swung through the city. Peter started thinking about what he had done. He felt terrible for all the bad things he's done. "We didn't do anything wrong. We are making the city a better place. Said the voice. It then began to rain. Peter finally realized that the suit was the one controlling him. "I have to take it off. The symbiote didn't like what Peter said. "You can't do that to us!" Said the symbiote. "We are one." Peter landed on top of a church tower. Peter didn't know what to do. The clock struck midnight and the bell began to ring. "Aghh!" Cried Peter as he fell to the floor of the tower. "Stop!" Yelled the symbiote. "That's it! The sound of the bell. It can help me take this suit off." Thought Peter to himself. Eddie walked to the church and saw Spider-Man inside the tower hitting the bell. Making it ring. "What is he doing?" Eddie asked himself. Peter struggled taking the symbiote off as the symbiote reappeared after every pull that Peter did. Then Peter hit the bell one last time and the symbiote blew up off Peter and he finally was able to get the symbiote off. Peter was back in his red and blue suit. "The voices are gone." Peter felt better.

Peter watched the symbiote try to scurry off. "I can't let this get on anyone else!" Peter thought as he looked around for something to trap the symbiote in. Peter noticed a container he could use and webbed it to him. As Peter began to trap it all he kept hearing was quiet ticks and quick flashes. He looked around and noticed Eddie below taking pictures of everything that happened. Peter remembered Eddie getting fired and knew what Eddie was up to. Peter quickly trapped the symbiote, webbed the lens of Eddie's camera, then ran off. After Peter left a piece of the symbiote falls from the ceiling on the church and starts crawling toward Eddie. "It's too late! I've got everything I need to get my revenge." Eddie thought as he removed the web from his camera. "Not everything!" A voice said from behind Eddie. Eddie slowly turned around to see a dark monster devour him whole. But it didn't eat Eddie, he became its new host. With his new powers he gained its memories and learned Peter was Spider-Man this whole time! He quickly set up his camera to take a video. "Look at what you did! Look at what you created Spider-Man! I know your secret, so if you don't want me to expose it to the world...come fight us!"
