Two Survivors [Lara Croft x Male Reader]

First Hunt

Y/N and Lara walked through the forest, with the rain having subsided while they were at camp, they  were now free to roam without the risk that came with the rain. As they walked through the forest, Y/N and Lara found something that instantly sent shivers down their spines. It was a mutilated corpse hanging upside down from a tree, with a bow around it.

"I swear to god if Predator is real..." Y/N began until Lara spoke up.

"Wait. I can use that bow!" Lara stated as she rushed on ahead, collecting some arrows that had fallen from the corpse. 

"Lara?" Y/N called up as he watched her climb up onto a branch and start to reach out for the swinging corpse.

"I can do this." Lara said as she managed to grab the bow just as the corpse came loose, falling and landing at the feet of Y/N who stepped out of the way of the falling body, managing to catch Lara in her fall.

"Falling for me, Lara?" Y/N remarked flirtatiously as Lara giggled at his remark.

"Shut up." She said with a smile. "Let's see if this thing still works. Just remember Roth's training."

"You can have the best form and technique in the world, but it won't mean a thing if you can't focus. The key to using any weapon is focus."  Lara could hear Roth's voice in her head, remembering the lesson.

"So hungry... we need to find something to eat." Lara said as Y/N nodded.

"You shoot it, I'll skin it." Y/N said as he held out his small stone knife, earning a nod from Lara. 

The pair managed to track down a dear and Lara used her bow to mortally wound the animal, however as they approached it they both noticed the deer was still clinging to life.

"Sorry..." Lara said to the animal before pulling out an arrow and stabbing the deer to put it out of it's misery.

Y/N knelt down next to the deer and pulled his knife out, beginning to skin the animal.

"Right, back to camp." Lara suggested as Y/N nodded.

"Back to camp." Y/N said as he put the deer carcass over his shoulder and started to follow Lara back to camp.

"Alright Lara, you won't always have some fancy gadget to tell you where you are. If you can learn to read the land and the stars, you'll always be able to find your way home." Lara remembered Roth's training.

Once in camp, Lara sat down by the fire and as Y/N made sure to prepare the Deer away from camp to avoid bringing predators looking for them, gutting the dead animal before taking it to camp and putting it near the fire, he looked at it's antlers and snapped one off, he wrapped some of the deer skin around one end of the antler and then used vines to secure the skin onto the antler, making it into a knife. Suddenly Lara's radio started to catch a signal.

"This is Conrad Roth, captain of the Endurance. We are shipwrecked on an island inside the Dragon's Triangle." Roth's voice came from the radio.

"Roth!" Lara responded with joy.

"Lara!" Roth said with clear relief in his voice at the knowledge that Lara was alive.

"You're alive!" Lara said with a tears falling down her cheek.

"Easy, easy. Are you okay? What happened?"

"I remember the beach... then it went black and Y/N and I woke up in a cave... There was this crazy man. Roth... and a dead body." Lara wept, the tears finally breaking free and the situation dawning on her. Y/N moved closer and put his arms around Lara to try and comfort her.

"Oh god... Where are you now, Lara? Are you safe?" Roth asked.

"It was so horrible. It's all my fault... this is all my fault." Lara said as Y/N wrapped her in his arms and tried his best to comfort her.

"Lara! Listen to me. I sent an SOS from the Endurance before I abandoned her. Hopefully someone caught it. I've spoken to the others. We're regrouping at my location." Roth stated as Y/N looked around for a sign of Roth's location.

"Please come and get us..." Lara said as Y/N just held her comfortingly.

"I have to stay here. You and Y/N can do this, Lara. Remember when we climbed Snowden? You said the key was knowing that all you've got to do is just keep moving."

"Keep moving..." Lara repeated to herself as Y/N smiled at her.

"Remember everything I've taught you, Lara. You're ready for this. And keep your radio on. You and Y/N look after each other."

"Okay." Lara said over the radio as she felt Y/N move his arms from around her and saw him start to cook the deer over the campfire, he handed her the first portion of venison before cooking his own portion.

"We're going to make it Lara, I promise." Y/N said with a smile as Lara looked him in the eyes.

"Y/N?"

"Hmm?" Y/N answered as he continued cooking his own portion of venison.

"Thank you, for... for what you did just now, the hug I mean." Lara said as Y/N realised what he had done, at the time he didn't know he had done it, it was just simple instinct to help his friend.

"Sure." Y/N said with a smile at Lara before he started to eat his Venison, the pair took some time to eat and recover before they decided to move out and try to find Roth...
