Mountain Rendezvous

Lara was on watch duty by their camp when she felt Y/N's hand trembling, she turned to look at Y/N and saw he had just awoken.

"Are you okay?" Y/N asked as Lara looked at him and thought for a moment before smiling and nodding.

"Fine." Lara lied as Y/N looked at her and thought to himself, reading her like an open book.

"No you're not." Y/N said as Lara chuckled.

"Am I so easy to read?" 

"For me, yes." Y/N said as he patted the floor next to him. "Come on, sit down, tell me what it is."

"How come you weren't bothered about killing those people yesterday?" Lara asked as Y/N paused for a moment.

"Because it was you or them, way I see it, might as well be them." Y/N said as Lara looked at him with a shocked expression. It was true, that was his thought process, but it was also true that he was not as calm as he let on, but right now, Lara didn't need to hear that, that wouldn't keep her alive. "Look about what was said at the line up back there-"

"It's fine, Y/N, really." Lara said as Y/N looked at her. "We should probably go and find Roth."

"... sure." Y/N said as he stood up, and pulled a small packet of beef jerky from his satchel, splitting it in half and handing some to Lara.

"Thanks." Lara said as she took a bite from the jerky while they started walking through the forest until they heard voices.

"Just got word from the west beach. Looks like a smaller group escaped into the lower forest." A Mercenary said as peeked over the cover he was behind.

"Crap!" Y/N whispered. "Okay, Lara use your bow to take them out quietly."

Lara nodded before she killed both of them.

"I think the coast is clear." Lara stated as she listened for any signs of hostiles.

"Yeah, come on." Y/N said as he looked around.

They entered a cave and Y/N lit a torch using it to set fire to a small barricade that collapsed to the floor.

"They're in here somewhere. Find them." A Mercenary said as Y/N drew his pistol and turned to nod at Lara.

"Capture or kill?"  Another Mercenary asked.

"Let me answer that for you boys!" Y/N called out before shooting two of them before ducking into cover. Lara drew her pistol and started firing while Y/N peeked from cover and shot another two guards. A few seconds later, Y/N and Lara had managed to lose their attackers, the pair of them hiding and waiting to get the jump on them again.

"Quiet! Quiet! You two, check that side. Keep looking! They've gotta be here somewhere!" The Mercenaries said as they spread out.

"You find anything on that side?"

"No, not a damned thing!"

"Whoa!" One merc said as they nearly fell off of a gangplank.

"Hey, watch it..."A Merc said as they looked over the edge of the planks.

"How far down does it go?"

"All the way to the sea caves." The Merc answered his colleague.

"Damn. Maybe they fell?" One merc suggested.

"There they are! Down below... get them!" A guard called out as they started throwing molotov's and firing fire arrows at Y/N and Lara who were quick to duck into cover, Y/N peeked from cover and was fast enough to hit the man with the molotov in the chest, causing him to drop the cocktail bomb and be engulfed in flames.
