"Mmm. Solar imagery... Some kind of sun worship?" Whitman observed the pictures on the gate while Y/N and Lara gathered some supplies and got to work on improving Lara's axe, with Y/N helping with the Axe. They sat at the camp while Y/N made some improvements to his and Lara's equipment with the resources they had salvaged, like strengthening Lara's axe, and sharpening it for use as a melee weapon if he wasn't around. He then applied some new bandages to his wound and took some painkillers while Lara started writing in a journal.
"Y/N? You're the literary expert, how do you suggest I start...?" Lara asked as Y/N thought for a moment.
"Woah, you got higher than me on the test." Y/N remarked as Lara looked at him.
"Only because you were better at creative writing and I was better at the analysing writing sections." Lara said with a smile.
"Okay. This is Lara Croft - an archaeologist from The Endurance shipwrecked on an island in the Dragon's Triangle, east of Japan." Y/N began dictating as Lara wrote.
"Amaterasu? Possibly... possibly." They heard Whitman from afar.
"This place is incredible. I've seen wrecks here that could date back centuries. We weren't the first and I know we're not alone." Y/N continued, his face showing clear annoyance at Whitmans presence.
"But why would survivors turn to worshiping an ancient Japanese sun goddess?" Whitman pondered.
"Something isn't right about this place. If I don't get off this island, maybe someone will eventually find this." Lara added at the end. Before they returned to the gate, with Y/N taking hold of the wheel with a handle while Lara used her newly improved axe as a handle.
"Alright, Lala? Shall we give it a go then?" Y/N said as Lara nodded with a smile at the nickname.
"Let's do this." Lara said.
"You sound like my uncle saying that." Y/N remarked with a laugh as they opened the gate. They passed through the gate that closed behind them.
"That female figure on the gate. Given the age of the symbols, it could be the Sun Queen..." Whitman thought out loud as Y/N and Lara smirked.
"Himiko? Are you sure you're not channeling Sam, Dr. Whitman?"
"Well, there's no doubt. Himiko had power. Some say shamanistic. Elemental!" Whitman pointed out as Y/N scoffed.
"A woman wields that much power and sooner or later it gets called witchcraft." Lara said as Y/N looked around.
"We shouldn't discount anything, even what may seem to us, irrational. We still have much to learn about the world." Whitman said as Y/N and Lara smiled.
"You sound like my father..." Lara remarked as as she felt Y/N's hand squeeze her hand comfortingly. She looked to him and smiled as he smiled back in that way that always lifted her up from rock bottom.
"It could be one hell of a story, Lara."
"Not if we don't live to tell it." Y/N remarked as he held a torch in his free hand. They found another shrine, this one with lit candles and bowls around it.
"Incredible." Whitman remarked as Y/N looked at the shrine, it had been used very recently.
"It is Himiko. But look, the bowl, the candles, why is she still being worshipped?" Lara asked as Y/N looked around.
