I cooked breakfast and poured myself some coffee. Sitting at the kitchen counter, I ate and read a new book I purchased from the bookstore. It was Saturday, and California's weather was finally starting to change. My plan for today is to go surfing after breakfast, shower, do laundry, get some homework done, and go thrifting. I needed a break from studying constantly and just from everyone and everything. My anxiety levels have been too high recently.

After finishing my coffee, I wash my plate and return to my room to change into a bikini with all my other essentials for the beach. I go down to the garage and open it to load my surfboard onto my truck. Just when I'm about to leave, Archie comes running out of the house in his swim trunks and a bag.

I parked my truck and rolled my window down, "What are you doing?" I chuckle.

Archie, out of breath and leaning on my passenger-side window, said, "Can I come with you? To the beach,"

"Sure, if you want," I laugh lightly. I unlock the door for him, and he jumps in.

We arrive shortly, and Archie helps me unload. I placed my bag and towel in the spot we chose. Archie placed his towel on the sand and sat with a book as I put my surf suit on.

"How did you know I was coming to the beach?" I ask him.

"I was planning on coming today, and when I saw you put your surfboard on your truck's roof, I didn't hesitate to tag along. Why waste gas?" He explained, and I agreed. I did like a little company.

"So question," Archie says, and I raise my eyebrows.

"Yes?" I answer.

"Are you and Miles a thing now? Because at first, I thought you and Flynn were together,"

My heart started racing.

"What do you mean?" I chuckle nervously.

"Julia, I'm not stupid. Just because I'm always busy with school work and mind my business doesn't mean I don't pay attention or do not know what's going on," He crosses his arms over his chest.

I sigh before looking at him. "I'm not sure what Flynn and I were if I'm honest. One minute, he's protective and kisses me; the next thing I know, he has another girl. We talked about being in a relationship, but he overcomplicated everything with my brother, or at least that was the excuse he used. He got distant from me, using other excuses on why he couldn't see me and didn't bother to tell me about Lisa. So that's that, I guess," I sigh deeply this time.

"But you still like him," Archie snickers and shakes his head.

"Yep," I admit and look down at my feet.

"What about Miles? How does he play into this? Because he seems to like you,"

I laugh at the last part of his sentence, "Yeah, right, I can barely stand the guy. He offered me a deal to make Flynn jealous, that we pretend to date because Miles hates how Flynn treated me. He said that once he sees me with another guy, he'll come running back to me," I explain and realize how stupid that sounded.
