Gojo's POV

I watched the buildings pass by. Flickering, there one second, and the next gone. I sighed and tried my best not to smile. I knew for sure that Maverick would say something if he saw me smiling like some sort of dork.

I can't help it. I finally saw her after so many years. Luckily she believed my story about just being an investor.

(A few weeks before)

"Maverick, can you find someone for me?" I asked him.

"Sure boss. Just pass me whatever information you have and I'll try my best." Maverick responded with a shrug.

(A few days later)
"Hey boss, you know that girl you asked me to find? I did. You want her address or her workplace? Hey...just so you know...if you're trying to ask her out, don't go to her house. You'd just seem like a creep." Maverick told me before running away, hysterically laughing.

"Tsk. I KNOW THAT!" I responded, feeling annoyed. I knew that. "Just send me the address to her workplace!" I shout back.

I finally received the address and realized where she worked. It's a growing company with a few investors so it shouldn't be too bad if I just...invest, right? I'll set up a meeting with them and officially meet her there.

(Back to a few weeks later)

I can't believe I actually saw her. I mean I know I planned it all out, but a part of me thought what if it was her day off today? What if she works with another department?

All these thoughts ran through my head but one singular thought kept me going. What if we met?

Damn, that sounded corny.

No matter. I actually saw her today. That's what actually matters. It took a while to set everything up so we could finally meet but I did it. I feel the smile creeping in and just at that moment Maverick decided to check on me. I hear him burst out laughing at my facial expression.

"What's up with that dumb grin on your face? Wait...don't tell me. Was the Satoru Gojo actually excited to meet a girl?" Maverick teases.

I roll my eyes and scoff. Glancing out the window, avoiding his question. I take a look at the sticky note recalling our conversation.

It's impossible. How could I ever be too busy to make time for her? I'd cancel everything to make time for her. I hold onto the sticky note tenderly, slowly typing in the numbers. I debate for a while wondering whether I should call or text?

I type out a quick message just to erase it. I debate as to whether or not I should press the call button. I notice we've reached our stop and head up the building as Maverick leaves to fetch some food. I sigh and sit on the couch.

I stare at my phone, trying to mentally prepare myself to press send. She looked just like she did that night.

(That night)

We sat on the stone wall, our feet hanging. I watched as she kicked her feet happily, her eyes shining under the stars. It was way past school hours, I was worried of getting her into trouble, we were still middle schoolers after all. She looked just like a dream.

I laughed as she joked around while eating her ice cream. Her hair tucked back, that same shining smile. You'd think she led a joyful life. I knew her truth. At that moment, I was one of the few who knew her truth.

Who would have thought my choices would change that?

She took out her notebook, reviewing like she always did. She'd always review with me because she knew I was always willing to help her. Furiously scribbling in her notebook afterwards placing the top of her gel-glittered pen onto the temple of her head trying to memorize it all.

After she was finally done we talked and talked. Spending another hour before realizing how late it was. I've cherished that night for years. It was another one of those nights where we opened up and I could hear her true laughter, not the polite laugh she laughed with other students.

We had a few more times like that. Before I messed up with my choices. To think she forgave me after the accidents I made.

I can still hear her angelic laughter echoing through my head.

(Back to present)

I smile as I remember that laugh. Finally gathering the courage to hit send.

'Hey, it's Gojo. I have some time this Saturday if you do?'

There that should be good. I still got it.

'...'

I see those dots and throw away the phone. I laugh at my obvious accidental movement. That was just an accidental reflex. I chuckle and go to pick up the phone, noticing she sent back a message.

'Hey! I do too! We can meet up for brunch if you want? I'm an early bird. :)'

I grin at the message and send a thumbs up with a smiley face. Even the way she texts is cute. I want to keep texting her.

So I do. I send her messages as she replies. I send her messages until she has to go to sleep saying I should do the same too. I grin as I text her goodnight.

"I'm back! Sorry my favorite celebrity did a pop up and you know she's more important than your hunger. But to make it up I got your favorite! Spicy fried chicken! Oh and Kikufuku!" I hear Mavericks voice as I poke my head out.

"That's your favorite but thanks for the Kikufuku" I take one and began to open it, glancing at the clock. 10:00.

"Oh yeah. But I also got you dessert, strawberry cake! And I ordered some non-spicy." Maverick grinned as he set the table, clearly excited.

I sit down and dig in, loving today. Especially cake. Especially the moments with her.
