A Stakeout, Not Really

I rush to Suguru's office after work. The whole day I had been out of it. When I think about the fact that I might finally be able to talk to Gojo, nothing else comes to mind.

My heart ached as he kept his distance from me. I hadn't realized how much it hurt when the other person was the one keeping the distance. When I did it, I had the option of contacting him whenever I was ready. But as time passed, as I waited I couldn't help but long for him more which in turn hurt me more.

The whole day I could barely focus on my work. Running on autopilot I wrote down notes during meetings, pretended to follow along which luckily no one noticed or called me out on. I also left my office, headed to my boss's and put some files on his desk only to realize I had left my office.

I still remembered our previous conversation, earlier in the day. "Are these the right files?"

"..."

"Are they?"

"..."

"Ms. L/N!"

"Oh. OH! I'm so sorry. What?" I say once he finally gets my attention. Realizing I had no clue what he was saying beforehand I had no choice but to ask sheepishly.

"Are these the right files for tomorrow's meeting, yes or no?" He asks irritated.

"Oh, yes of course, sir. Do you need anything else?" I asked anxiously trying to head back to my office and finish for the rest of the day.

"Yes. For you to start paying more attention. I better not see this behavior at tomorrow's meeting, got it?" He asks grumpily.

"Of course, sir." I give a small bow and quickly left his office. My mood deteriorated the rest of the day, tired as the day progressed. But now I anxiously headed to Suguru's office once again. It had been a few days since we talked and since we established our relationship.

I quickly enter and the familiar bell rings, I decide to order a refreshing drink instead of the coffee I usually get since I was getting into the bad habit of drinking coffee nearly every single day again. I wait for my drink and glance toward the stairs where I see Suguru.

He walked down in his suit so I assume he had a meeting today. He approaches me with a smile. "Hello. What're you doing?"

"Waiting for my drink. Oh and looking for you." I tell him with a small smile. "I see you must have been at a meeting earlier today considering you usually wear more casual clothes than this."

"Ah. Yes I attended a meeting with a few of my subordinates and a few investors I know." He says as I continue to wait.

My ears perk up as I hear him say the word investors but I quickly remind myself that not everything has to deal with Gojo. As I had thought the last few times, I had been wrong and my excitement had ended in disappointment.

"It was to find Satoru." He finishes saying. I quickly turn around excitedly before reminding myself to calm down. Suguru had told me he was going to start searching a few days ago, every now and then he gave me an update but unfortunately it was never what I wanted to hear. "I found out he is attending a meeting." Once again I'm faced with excitement. A feeling of relief since I'll finally be able to talk to him. Before I realize I may not have a way to enter this meeting. I probably don't since Satoru had been avoiding the past few meetings in-person and attending over a screen. I feel a bit glum as I come to this realization.

"I'll be able to get you in if you want. Or we can just wait at the parking lot. Wait for him to come down although I can't guarantee a time limit. It's fine if you can't make it, I can search up another time we'll be able to run into him."
