I exit the room. Breathing a sigh of relief. That meeting was filled with tension. Not to mention that look from my boss. Luckily he didn't lecture me but I could still feel how much he wanted to.
Even then I couldn't focus on anything. My mind was filled with thoughts on the man from the stairs. The whole time I couldn't stop thinking about him. If what that employee said was true then that truly is interesting.
I walk on auto-pilot. Making my way down to the lobby to get back that coffee I desperately need. As I trudge through the halls sullenly, I suddenly bump into someone.
I rub my forehead as I look up. "Deja vu?" Asked a familiar face. I laugh as I remember our interaction from a few weeks ago.
"Definite deja vu. I've got to start watching where I walk." I say as I look up at Gojo. "Oh, we're at work. Sorry for bumping into you, uh sir." I say as I give an awkward bow.
"Nah it's fine. I don't think anyone will really say anything if we know each other." He says tousling my hair as I get back up. I playfully smack away his hand.
"Don't do that, you'll mess up my hair for the day." I say in a matter of fact tone.
"Why's it matter? You got something important going on today?" He asks.
"I mean no but I'm still at work. I got to look presentable obviously."
"Ah of course. For work." He nods his head, letting out a snicker.
"Are you laughing at me? What because I don't have plans on a Friday?" I ask defensively.
"No no of course not." He says in between laughs. I start walking away from him trying my best to ignore my cheeks flushing from embarrassment. "Hey hey I was just kidding! Come on!" He walks over in a fastened pace cutting my path off. "I mean if you really don't have plans I'm not busy tonight." He says shrugging with a cocky grin.
"Hmm. Actually I think I do have plans tonight. Sorry no can do." I say teasingly.
"Come on. There's no need to be like that. It's been a while we should hangout again."
"...Okay. I mean it has been a while. Fine, you got any plans then?"
"Yep. I found this nice place. Attire is fancy. I'll send you the address to a restaurant since it's more like a jazz club than somewhere to eat. Then I'll drive you afterwards to the club."
"Fancy isn't really an attire but okay. I'll meet you at the restaurant then!"
"Now you have an actual reason to not mess up your hair for the day." He says jokingly.
I roll my eyes, "Work is still an actual reason, now I just have 2 reasons."
I walk down to the lobby with Gojo as we keep talking, "Alright, I'll send you the details through text, keep track of your messages!" Says Gojo.
I wave goodbye as he leaves. Walking over to Martha. "Hey, you still got that coffee that I left here earlier?"
She shakes her head, "Sorry I left it in the fridge but the new intern accidentally spilled it earlier when I asked if he could grab my salad. You know he's fresh out of high school, hiring manager took a liking to him. He's a little clumsy, newbie come here. This is Y/N, the one whose coffee you spilled."
I watch as the young boy walks over, he approaches me, bowing his head. "I'm so sorry. I really didn't mean to spill it." He says sheepishly as he looks up through his pink fluffy hair. "My name is Yuuji Itadori."
"Please, it's not a problem. I can just go buy another one. Nice to meet you Itadori." I say urging him to stop bowing. I turn to Martha, "You shouldn't be making him get your salad in the first place. Tsk. But when did we get an intern?" I ask her.
"A few days ago, he just started. It was just a small favor, I'm sorry I'll buy you another one." Martha says, shrugging.
"No it's fine. I'll go get another one now."
"No no, please let me buy it. I'm the one who spilled it after all. Martha said you got it from the cafe across from here. I'll go buy one now." Itadori said.
"It might be better if she goes with you. She's very picky so her order is a little complicated." Says Martha as I nod.
"Okay, then I'll just pay for it. Let's go!"
I smile at his enthusiasm and follow along.
"So Itadori, how'd you start working here?" I ask him curiously since we don't take many interns."Oh. My grandpa knows the hiring manager and he recommended I try this since I wasn't really sure what to do out of high school."
As we approach the cafe, Itadori opens the door and I step inside. I place my order and he pays for it quickly after.
"Oh and not to mention my mentor owns this place." He says as we wait.
"Your mentor?"
"Yep, he taught me a few things when I was going through a bit of a rough patch. It's a good excuse to visit him since my work is right-"
"Yuuji?" I hear a familiar stern voice say. I was so focused on this conversation, I never realized he was right there.
"Getou! Hey! I'm just here with a co-worker. Getou this is Y/N. Y/N this is Suguru Getou , my mentor." He says cheerfully.
I look up at the same man from this morning. The same cascading locks that draped over his suit. The same blue navy suit that still enunciated his muscles. The same pretty purple eyes. I wasn't sure what to say so instead I just stuck out my hand, he shook it as I smiled.
He looked at me quizzically before speaking, "I saw you this morning. Oh and please call me Suguru, I prefer it."
I nod my head, my cheeks reddening from the fact that he remembers.
"Yuuji, mentor is going a little overboard."
"But you are! Come on just accept that as your official title now, no use fighting it!" He says with a cheeky smile.
"Alright. It's nice to see you've made a friend Yuuji. I'll try to join you some other time, I'm a little busy today. Hope you enjoy your coffee. It was nice to meet you." Suguru says tiredly. He waves and gives a small smile. Yuuji waves back. "Bye mentor!"
"Bye Suguru." I say softly. The waiter comes over with my coffee and I smile. Taking a whiff of the delicious aroma as I see the last of him ascend up the stairs. Itadori smiles brightly as I drink my coffee, feeling refreshed once again.
We start heading back to the building. He chatters away happily as I listen. What a big ray of sunshine. I smile as I realize I haven't had someone this enthusiastic around me for a while.
"Sorry, I've been talking too much. We should hang out more! In fact we should hang out at the cafe more. I think my mentor liked you, it's been a while since he's been so nice to someone." He says with a cheery smile.
