I stare at the phone in front of me. Sure, it had only been a few seconds but I was already freaking out. The only thing that was helping me calm down was packing a few clothing items.
'Good evening Uncle. I was wondering if I could come by and visit this weekend.'
It had only been an hour since I had been at Yuuji's place. I feel my face flush from the fact I told them everything after only having met one of them for a few minutes. But still, it felt good to let it all out and have someone agree with me. Although Fushiguro was right, I had to figure out what exactly was the issue and why Gojo had reacted like that when seeing Suguru.
A ring snaps me out of my thought. A continuous ring that sent a chill down my spine. I glanced at my phone which laid on the bed. My uncle was calling me. I reached for the phone slowly as I took a few breaths to calm myself down.
As much as I loved my uncle, I really didn't want to talk to him. My first memories of him were of how strict he was. The complete opposite of my father who was a bit more laidback. My uncle was a man fully focused on business and even as a child I could tell he didn't care much for me.
After the accident however, his persona toward me softened and he tried his best for me as my father's child even though I knew it was rough for him as well. He urged me to focus on my studies and get into a good college which I did. However he seemed to want me to take over the family business. I ultimately didn't want to.
Yet, he brings it up every time. He tells me to visit, which is rough since I, myself, don't want to remember past memories. Even now this took quite a bit of effort but I was willing to do it so I could get down to the bottom of Gojo and Suguru's story, and apparently mine as well.
I reach the phone and answer, unfortunately. "Good evening, Uncle. I hope you're doing well."
"Good evening, my niece. I am, I hope you are too. I trust you've kept yourself in good condition as I warned you too. Is anything the matter? You rarely ever text me." He says, enunciating the "me" very obviously.
"No. Nothing's the matter, I just figured it's been a while and I wanted to ask you something as well. That's all." I say awkwardly.
"Of course! Of course! You're always welcome. When are you planning to arrive? Tomorrow? Morning or evening?"
"Oh. Uh. You see, I had already started packing my things. Tonight?" I say remembering the few items I had already packed.
I figured it would be best to get to the bottom of this as soon as possible. I knew that if I were to arrive there, he would ask me to stay longer so I figured the sooner I get there the sooner I can leave as well.
I look at the time as he speaks. "Oh. Well, of course that's fine as well. Although you should tell me sooner, if you're to become a businesswoman of the family then you should be more prepared and-"
"Oh. Sorry...I think...breaking...I'll text...time...bye!" I say as I hang up the call, finally being able to give a sigh of relief. I groan as I realize I may have to deal with this the rest of the weekend.
I pack the last of my things and head out my apartment. I grab a cab to the train station and look around before heading towards the ticket center and grabbing a ticket to the town my uncle lives in. The town I escaped a few years ago. I had only visited twice since leaving that place. I guess this makes the third time.
I grab the ticket and wait for my train to arrive. As I wait, I decide to text my uncle the details of my arrival. A little over 2 hours from now. I guess I'd be arriving around nine.
I sit at my seat and close my eyes. I wince as I remember the fresh memories of today. This is the end of us.
No. It can't be. Not like this. Not when I don't have any answers. I'll get a hold of those answers. I'll figure out what's really going on.
