I remember that fateful day. The day I met a lonely boy. He might not have seemed lonely to most people but I could sense it from his presence, his demeanor. The way he carried himself seemed extra, as if he was trying to stand out, to show off that he was perfectly fine.
I had seen him before and he always seemed like that. We'd make eye contact and he would smile but his eyes didn't smile. The first thing I noticed about him were those eyes. They were so pretty, I found it so sad he never truly smiled with them.
On that fateful day I was rather excited because I had gotten a sticker from my teacher. I skipped along happily, proudly looking at the golden star I and many others had gotten. Until I bumped into someone. He was a little shorter than me. I had always thought we were the same height. I realized we weren't once we bumped into each other, standing face to face.
I apologized profusely and he of course said it was okay with a small smile. At the time I was a very chatty kid and I remember how a part of me felt like I owed him some type of explanation so I talked to him, explaining why I accidentally bumped into him.
"I'm so sorry again. You see I wasn't looking because I got distracted by this golden sticker, my teacher gave me one. She's so nice! I think she might my by best teacher yet! Have you ever gotten a golden sticker? They're so cool. I'm so sorry, I was just so excited!"
He stared at me for a few seconds before I continued, "My name is Y/N. What's yours? I really like your eyes by the way! I'm so sorry."
He smiled politely, "I'm Gojo Satoru. It's nice to meet you. I've gotten a few golden stickers, it must be your first since you're so excited."
"Mhmm! I usually don't get them only the smart-smart kids do. It's so exciting getting one now. Oh but it's nice to meet you Gojo! We should talk more, in fact we should study together! Pretty please! If you've gotten a few gold stars could you teach me? You must be smart! Oh sorry you should meet my parents first, and I should meet yours! Oh and also what class are you in? Actually what grade are you in?"
I remember how he stared at me, dumbfounded by all the chattering and questions I had asked. He took a few seconds before responding. "I could try to teach you but you're right we'd have to meet each other's parents. I'm not incredibly smart but I could still help in a few parts if that's okay. Also I'm in class 5A."
"Oh I'm in class 5B. You must be really good, 5A is the top class in our grade. That's great, all right. I'll go home and tell my parents about you, you tell them about me too! They'll get to know each other and boom! Study session!"
He nods his head giving another polite smile as we waved goodbye, I dragged my mom there the next day so she'd meet him and be able to talk to his parents. She caught their phone number and set up a time so they could all meet up. I was so excited and surprised it was the first time this was actually happening.
Soon enough the time came for us to have a study session, the first one was at my house since Gojo insisted on it. I, of course, obliged.
"Come on! Let's go to the living room, my mommy said she'll cut up some fruit!" He nodded and followed me into the living room looking around curiously as he helped me study. He taught me a few equations, and a few new tricks. We got distracted a few times when my cat would come by. He'd reach out curiously before coming to a stop.
"You can pet him. He's really friendly! His name is Tang Tang!" He slowly lifted his hand back up and pet him, Tang would purr and I'd see his eyes light up just a glint.
Soon enough it became a daily thing. I would usually host, or we'd go to a cafe or library with my mom watching us.
"Okay. Okay. Why did the orange stop in the middle of the road?"
