Well today's the day. The day I finally get some errands done. I've been so busy this week, helping to prep for the new contract, not to mention the having to prepare for a new pitch and international sales. I'm just grateful for today and tomorrow. While I'm glad to see Gojo again why did he have to show up when the company is already swamped in work? At this rate I'll drown in papers and proofing.
I glance at the time and get my clothes ready, finishing the touches on my hair. As soon as I'm done with that I get dressed, ready for the brunch with Gojo and to run those errands.
I rush out and get to the nearest bus stop. Waiting for 5 minutes before it arrives. I look at the text messages making sure I have the right address we decided on. Finally getting off about 10 minutes later.
I walk around a bit before finally finding the cafe Gojo had recommended. I peep through the window and see it's pretty empty for a Saturday morning. I walk in, the bell ringing as I open the door, notifying the bartender. He welcomes me in and I order a coffee, I take a seat nearby next to a window with a good view.
"Order for Y/N?" I turn around and notice a server handing me my coffee, I thank him and glance at my watch. 10:55.
I guess I arrived too early. Eh. Better early than late I guess.
I pull out a few papers, reviewing them with this short amount of time I have. I hear the bell ring and notice Gojo walking in. We make eye contact immediately as I look up from the documents I was reviewing. I smile as he grins at me.
I watch as he places a quick order and rushes over, "Sorry for making you wait." He states.
"Don't be. I came early anyway. It's good to see you again, it still feels like it's been forever. This week seemed to drag on, how are you?" I ask curiously, taking a sip of my coffee. I proceed to put away the papers as he talks, smiling softly at the way he gets excited.
"I'm doing really good. I've been wanting to do this one thing for years and I finally got the chance this week so I'm just happy. Not to mention business is good too. As an investor I think I've picked the right places." He exclaims, beaming while he talks.
I feel myself get excited as well. With his energy as strong as it is, it excites me. I feel my smile grow as he continues to talk, the server comes and he takes a short break to take a sip of his coffee, just to resume talking excitedly.
"Oh, I'm so sorry. I've been talking this whole time, I haven't even given you a chance to talk. I just get so excited sometimes." He says sheepishly, with an amused smile.
"It's fine. We met up to catch up, remember? I love talking with you, you're so passionate about it all. It's great to talk like we're still old friends." I say happily.
We stay there for a while before I realize it's been an hour and a half.
"Oh crap. I'm running late, sorry, I just have an errand to run and the bus takes a while to get there. I should go."
"I...I can take you if that's fine. I just feel bad, you know? You're running late cause of me. I don't have much planned for today so I could take you. Plus I wouldn't mind spending extra time with you, even if it's for an errand."
I stare at him for a few seconds before giving a grateful smile, "Thanks. I'd appreciate that."
We drive in silence before I see him turn on the volume, music softly playing from his stereo. I didn't even realize I was humming along till he pointed it out.
"You still listen to him? Or do you just remember this one? I've been a fan of his since you introduced me to him in middle school." Gojo smiles sincerely, looking in the distance as he drives at a steady pace. His fingers tapping against the steering wheel.
"Yeah. I still do. I can't believe you still listen to him after all these years!" I exclaim giddily.
We both hum along before I tell him where to stop so I can finish the errand quickly. I get out the car quickly, "I'll be right back." He nods his head and I speed walk to the building.
As soon as the cold air from the building hits me, I realize my face feels flushed. I turn in a few documents, sign the paperwork as quick as I can and take out my compact mirror. I groan as I realize how tired my eyes, and red my cheeks are. I walk to a water fountain, gulping down some water as I try to calm myself down.
That one interaction.
We both smiled genuinely, looking into each other's eyes as we hummed along.
That one interaction.
Why now? We have been talking this whole day, so why now? Why am I reacting like this?
I glance at the time for the 100th time today and feel my cheeks start to cool down. I walk slowly toward the exit and feel a warm spring breeze hit my face as I step out. I look around, walking toward Gojo's car. Trying to seem normal, as if I wasn't just freaking out a short while ago.
Before I can reach the car Gojo quickly gets out and walks to my side as he opens the door and bows. "After you." He grins cheekily. "I wanted to do this earlier but you sort of rushed out."
I look at him for a moment before giggling. "Why thank you sir Gojo."
"No problem, madam." He says as he proceeds to put on my seatbelt and close the door. I feel my face flush as soon as that door shuts closed. Why did he have to get so damn close?
He enters through his side and drives me to a nearby park. He opens his door and comes over to mine, opening it once again. "You seem a little hot, sorry I should've turned on the ac. I figured maybe you'd like a walk since it's breezy."
"Oh. That's so...thoughtful of you. Yeah, I'd love to take a walk." I step out.
We spend the rest of the day together.
He made me forget I had errands to do.
