Iris's P.O.V

The casino wasn't too far from Brews a Plenty, about 15 minutes. The traffic was the worst part of it all. It made the 15 minute drive feel like it was going to take an hour to get there. My anxiety started going through the roof at that point. I was scared I wasn't going to make it there before three.
"What if we don't make it there in time, Lia?" I asked her, gripping the steering wheel.
"We'll make it, don't worry." She said. "We still have thirty minutes to get there."
I just looked at her with worrisome eyes and continued on, praying to god I would make it.

I could see the huge gold building in the distance, its' twinkling lights still visible in the daytime. I started to get giddy inside and could feel it go through my whole body. I've never been inside before. I've only ever seen pictures that my dad has sent me because I'd have to beg for them. I've been in Vegas for a few weeks now, I haven't been able to do much sightseeing with how much I've been working at the steakhouse and trying to juggle college at the same time.

We pulled into the parking lot and finally found a spot to pull into after what felt like forever. I grabbed my phone and papers from my bag when Lia spoke up.
"I'm gonna get an Uber back to your place and head out. I've gotta meet up with Jason."
"Oh, are you sure?" I asked her.
"Yeah, we've been trying to plan to meet up for a little bit now."
"I'm sure you have." I said while smirking at her.
"It's not like that!" She exclaimed. But she couldn't help but to grin like a little school girl with a crush.
"I'm sure it's not." I said while grinning with her.
"You should go inside before it's too late." She pointed at her phone showing me the time, 2:55.
"Oh shit!" I yelled and jumped out of the car hurrying my way to the front of the ginormous building.
I heard Lia yell from behind me.
"Good luck chica!!"
I gave her a quick wave and continued my way to the front.

I walked up the stairs to the casino and into the revolving doors. I looked around in amazement. Everything was so big and extravagant. A huge chandelier to greet you as soon as you walk in. I could hear all the noises from people playing slots and yelling in excitement. I looked around for the front desk and I saw it to the right of me. I walked up casually to it, even though I was shaking like a chihuahua.
"Hi, I'm looking for Richard Stoll. He's in the marketing and sales department?" I said in more of a question.
"And you are?" The lady asked me while looking me up and down. Gotta keep a good appearance if I want this job. So let's not get nasty back.
"I'm Iris. Blair. I spoke to Richard earlier today about an assistant position for the owner." I told her.
I could physically see her demeanor change, but not by much.
"Give me one moment please." She said as she picked up the phone. She didn't say anything but gestured towards some chairs telling me to have a seat. I walked over and sat down putting the papers in my lap.

After about ten minutes I saw the elevator open from across the room and a man stepped out and was making his way towards me. I stood up and met him halfway, hoping it was Richard.

"Richard?" I asked the man.
"You must be Iris. It's lovely to meet you." He said extending his hand out for me to take. I quickly accepted it and shook his hand.
"Yes, it's lovely to meet you as well."
"So, you're interested in the boss's assistant position huh?"
"I'm very interested in it sir. I have my resume right here for you." I handed him my papers and he quickly glanced through it.
"Well, I'd be happy to hand this over to Mr. Urie for you." He said. "I can't promise anything but I think you have a very good chance at getting it." He continued.
"It would be an honor, honestly." I said.
"Well, let me get this to him, he's up in his office now." He said.
"Of course, again, it was great meeting you." I told him.
"You as well Ms. Iris, you have a good day."
"You too!" I exclaimed.
I watched him walk away and back into the elevator.

I didn't have anything else planned for the day, so I decided to look around the casino for a bit. I walked farther into the building and saw hundreds of slot machines, multiple tables where people was playing poker and blackjack. I eventually came across a bar and decided to have a drink. I walked up to a stool and sat down.

"Hiya, pretty lady. What'll it be?" The bartender asked me while shaking a drink he was making.
"I'll take an old fashioned." I said.
"Great choice." He said and walked off, finishing the other persons drink.

I started to look around when someone came and sat in the stool next to mine. I looked over and it was a tall attractive man. He gave me a small smile and I gave him one back. He looked towards the bartender and told him what he wanted to drink, then he looked back at me.
"Hi, I'm Marco and you are?"
"Hi, my name is Iris."
"I don't think I've seen you in here before. Do you come here often?" He asked me
The bartender came back with my drink and I happily took it.
"No, first time here actually." I told him
"Well, you sure do stand out." He said
I took a small sip of my drink trying to think of a reply.
"Thank you?" I chucked nervously. I didn't know if I should take it as a compliment or not.
"That's a compliment." He smiled, showing his teeth. Perfect teeth.
"Well, thank you." I said to him.
"I hope to see you around here more often, Iris." Marco got up from his stool with his drink in hand and walked away.

Having awkward encounters already, and I don't even work here yet. I expect many more if I do get this job. I turned around in my stool and just people watched. A few drunk people here, a few rambunctious people there. At least I'm getting a feel for it already. I quickly finished my drink and sat it back down on the bar with cash and a tip. I got up from my stool and started making my way towards the front of the building.

I walked out of the revolving doors of the casino, and felt the fresh, brisk air kissing my face. I slowly made my way to my car, I parked farther than I thought I did. I eventually made my way back to it and got in. I took my phone out of my back pocket and checked the time. 4:00. I decided to order some Chinese for dinner tonight. I haven't had that in forever it feels like. I decided on Shanghai Taste. Never tried them before but their food looks delicious. I gave them a quick call and placed my order. After that was handled I took off to my apartment.

I got back home fairly quickly. I seen Lia's car was no longer parked outside. 'I'll have to text her and see how she's doing.' I thought to myself. I got up to the front door and let myself inside after unlocking it. I shut the door behind me and immediately took off my heels. I was use to heels but my feet just wasn't wanting to cooperate with me today.

I went into my bedroom and got changed into some sweats and a gray oversized shirt. My favorite. I quickly texted my dad and Lia to tell them how it went. I sat down on my couch and turned on my tv to try to find something to watch. I went to Netflix and scrolled, and scrolled, and scrolled some more. I can never decide what I want to watch. It's a struggle. I heard a knock on my door and excitedly got up from the couch to get my food.
"Hi, delivery for Iris?" The man asked me.
"Yep, that's me." I said with a smile.
"Total is 25.37"
"Here you go." I handed him his money and told him to keep the change. He said a quick thank you and left.

I sat my food down on the table and got it out. I decided to just watch The Office again, can never go wrong with that. I got my chopsticks out and dug straight into my noodles. As soon as I got my first bite I realized that I hadn't eaten since this morning. It was heavenly. Mouthful of noodles and my phone started to ring. I looked at the number and didn't recognize it. But I answered it anyway.
"Hello?" I said with noodles still in my mouth.
"Yes, I'm looking to speak to Iris Blair?" The man asked.
"This is her, and this is?"
"Brendon Urie, owner of the Vegas Lights Casino." He said.
I threw my chopsticks down, jumped up from the couch and started choking on some noodles.
"Are-are you okay?" I heard Brendon ask.
I quickly got myself together and answered him.
"Ye-yes, I'm alright. How are you Mr. Urie?"
"I'm alright. I wanted to talk to you regarding your resume that Richard had brought me."
"Of course, anything you need." I told him.
"Well, I think you are more than qualified for this position. But, I would like to do an in person interview with you as well. Would that be possible?" He asked me.
"Definitely, when would be best?"
"Say tomorrow? Eight am sharp." He said
"No problem at all Mr. Urie, I will see you then."
"See you then." He simply replied and hung up.

As I'm sitting here finishing my Chinese food, I'm just realizing, that this is really happening. The first time I speak to him and I end up choking on some noodles, now that really happened. I mentally slapped my forehead at the embarrassment. I sat in front of the tv just mindlessly watching it until I decided to get to bed early to get as much sleep as I could. We're gonna make it official tomorrow, just watch.
