Iris's P.O.V

I woke up foggy and in a haze. I didn't sleep well at all last night considering. As much as I loved having Lia here, she couldn't stop the nightmares. Not like Brendon could.

This is nothing against Lia but, I can't wait to sleep beside Brendon again. He's always so warm and inviting. It made me feel a thousand times better. I looked to the other side of my bed and saw Lia was still sound asleep.

Slowly, I got out of bed and found myself in the kitchen making a pot of coffee for when Lia wakes up. Once I had it going, I grabbed my laptop to keep reading the book my professor assigned for us to read.

It was hard to focus on the words on the screen. I don't know what it was, but I was just completely out of it this morning. It's more than likely just lack of sleep and caffeine.

When I went to go make myself a cup of coffee, Lia came strolling out of my bedroom, yawning as she walked up beside me.

"You made coffee." She said as she yawned again.
"As always." I replied handing her a cup.
"Thank you." She said, taking a sip.
I made myself a cup and sat back down in my seat, continuing to read.
"What are you doing?" She asked.
"Reading this book for my class. Not too much longer and I'll be graduating." I said with a small smile.
"I know I've said it before but, I'm so proud of you." Lia came around the counter and gave me a small side hug.
"Thank you. I think it goes without saying that I'm proud of you too." I said. "I mean, we've been on this whole journey together and I couldn't ask for someone better than you."
"Stop, you're gonna make me cry." Lia said, hugging me tighter.
"I'm serious." I said to her. "You've been with me through everything and I can't thank you enough."
"That's what friends do. That's what sisters do." She smiled. "I'll always be here for you."

Lia walked over into the living room and sat down on the couch, turning the TV on.
"This won't bother you, will it?" She asked me.
"Even if it does are you going to turn it off?" I retorted.
"Nope." She said, popping the p.
I chuckled to myself and continued reading.

Lia was long gone from my apartment. Leaving me alone to my thoughts. Brendon texted me earlier, saying he wanted me to come by his place before we head to the casino. Said he had some sort of surprise for me? I don't know, regardless, I'll be happy to just see him.

Richard's poker tournament didn't start until seven thirty. It was only two now, so I had plenty of time to do whatever I wanted. I read about half of Gulliver's Travels and believed if I read anymore, I might actually go blind. So I decided to read the rest of it next week.

Since Christmas was right around the corner, I thought why not get on it early and start shopping for gifts. I won't be able to do much since I still don't have a car but, it's the thought that counts right?

I got dressed in a warm maroon sweater, blue jeans and a pair of white vans to go out on this trip. I didn't need anything fancy on just to go shopping. I grabbed my keys and purse from the counter and opened my front door.
