Iris never showed to the gathering Brendon had planned. After hours of her still not showing up, Brendon increasingly became worried. He called her phone numerous times, but never received any answers.
After Iris found her apartment completely destroyed by Ian, she made the rapid decision to leave. She figured she could stay in Las Vegas but, she'd have to move to a different city. She sold almost every valuable item she had. Her old car, her dad's house, and his truck to be able to afford it.
Amelia didn't hesitate in offering Iris a place to stay, which Iris refused. She didn't want Ian to go after the ones she loved, which he was known to do. That meant leaving Brendon behind too.
She knew if she told him, he'd try to do something to protect her. Like, going after Ian. Iris didn't want that. She wanted him to be safe. She wanted to leave no trace of anything and disappear, just like she did in Oklahoma. It seemed to work out fine before, so why not now?
The only person to know where Iris was going was Amelia. Amelia knew about Ian and witnessed what he did at Iris's apartment and knew she wouldn't speak a word about her whereabouts to anyone. Including Brendon. Iris's safety depended on that.
Days would go by that eventually turned into months. In those months, Brendon became depressed, quickly falling into a hole of loneliness and self doubt. Everyday he would call Iris, and everyday he wouldn't receive an answer.
Even though Brendon had many connections, he still couldn't find Iris. It was like she disappeared off the face of the earth with zero explanation. Without even a single goodbye. It made him crazy.
He wondered if she would ever come back into his life, to brighten it again. During those months, Brendon couldn't find anything to bring him some kind of peace except for Freedom Beat. He would go there and perform often.
He could only hope that Iris would appear again in front of him, telling him everything was okay.
