Song: Suddenly- Hugh Jackman.
Elliot
After taking my shower to clear my mind a bit, I walked out to find Dareen leaning against the kitchen counter with an untouched tray of food next to her.
"Morning." I said quietly taking out a bottle of cold water.
When she didn't move, I turned to face her.
"What's wrong?"
"My head hurts." She whimpered, but her voice sounded weird as if she was holding back her tears.
"You should've thought of the consequences while you were drinking." I sighed handing her a bottle of pills. "Take one after breakfast."
She nodded quietly not looking at me.
"You'll eat breakfast with me." I said quietly pulling her to sit on a high stool.
"Fine." She sighed as we sat down and started eating.
Looking up, I found her playing with her food quietly.
"Try this," I whispered raising a piece of nutella and peanut butter pancake to her lips. "Please."
Slowly she opened her mouth giving me the chance to feed her.
"I want no more." She said quietly turning her face away as tears started falling from her eyes again. "I'm sorry."
"Forget about it. It just happened." I sighed pulling her to my chest.
"I don't know how did I do that! I'm such a fool." She sobbed as I rubbed her back.
"No no no, I hate those tears." I pulled away kissing her temple. "No more tears." I whispered.
"I can't believe that you actually feel bad because of that. My girl is so innocent. My God!" I chuckled making her smile.
"I feel like I dissapointed you." She sighed.
"Um- let's forget about it, can we?" I asked pulling her on my lap.
"Uhuh," She nodded.
"Just one more so you can take your asprin." I smiled giving her a bite of bacon.
"Ouch! You look to hungry." I chuckled as she passed me a teasing a look.
"That was my finger!"
"I know." She giggled hopping from my lap.
"Wait, here." I chuckled straddling her on the floor tickling here.
"No no!" She giggled under me.
"Listen- It's your phone." She pointed out giggling.
"Where is it?" I searched my pockets.
"Here, it fell from your pocket." She handed it to me, her eyes examining the caller's name. It's Ethan.
"Forget about it." I shrugged throwing it next to me.
"Answer him."
"I'll just call him later!" I sighed as she got up.
"He's your brother. You won't lose your brother because of a woman. What we were doing was wrong, I'm your assistant, and at the end, come and think of it- there's no one to blame but me."
"Don't blame yourself for everything!" I sighed trying to hold her hand, but she moved it away.
"Everyone's blaming me even you." She whispered. "You said it yesterday when you were mad."
"You said it! I was mad!" I protested.
"You don't think about what you say when you're mad. You just speak out what you really think, Elliot. Answer him, I'm going to take a shower anyway." She sighed taking the bottle of pills I just handed her before stepping in her room.
Fuck that!
Sighing, I picked up my phone pressing it to my ear.
"Did I wake you up?" Ethan asked once I answered him.
"Nah, I was in the bathroom." I lied.
"How are you?"
"I'm good." I sighed. "How's Alice and Linda?"
"Alice is driving me crazy, but Linda is okay."
"Why? What's wrong?" I frowned.
"She keeps on nagging all the time. I lost it yesterday, and she cried herself to sleep."
"Where's your father and mum?" I sighed pouring coffee for myself.
"They were out, as usual."
"Don't yell at her, Ethan. She needs us since they're not giving her the attention needed." I sighed.
"I'm trying, but come quickly."
"Tonight, we will eat dinner together." I smiled.
"Okay."
"Tell them I said hi. I should start preparing my things."
"Okay, goodbye." He hung up.
------
Everything is so awkward and confusing; one moment we're good, and the next- nothing.
We just returned to New York, and it's already dark here.
"Let's go." I called out openning the car door for her.
"Harry is coming to pick me up." She shrugged looking up for her phone screen.
"Dareen, why did you call him? I will drive you home!" I protested.
"It's no problem. He's like my brother."
"Since I'm here, you don't need to call anyone!" I glared at her.
"He's here!" She pointed out waving at him.
"Hey, kiddo." He chuckled wrapping his arms around her.
"I miss you." She giggled.
"Uh- sorry, Elliot." He pulled away shaking my hand.
"How are you?" I smiled.
"I'm good, but if you came just a few minutes late, I would've thrown Picky into the street."
"You ass!" Dareen rolled her eyes slapping his arm.
Don't touch him. Don't, Dareen.
I closed my eyes trying to keep myself from saying anything.
"She wants her mommy!"
"I won't be offended if Picky is my daughter. She's a better friend than you."
"Ohh- Should I leave you here? I mean, since I am a horrible friend, I shouldn't pick you up."
"I was going to drive her home anyway, you stole her from me." I couldn't help but say it.
"Oh, I'm sorry. She called me-" He said awkwardly when he sensed my seriousness.
"I'm coming with you, Harry. Elliot is just joking." She glared at me.
"Okay, give me your bag cause I don't want to leave Christina alone in the car any longer."
"Okay." She nodded as he walked away.
"Don't make it harder for us, Elliot, please." She said quietly before joining them without even giving me the chance to reply.
Silently, I stepped into my car, and sped out.
---------
"I'm home." I sighed putting my bag in my room.
"Elliot!" Alice jumped on me.
"I miss you." I chuckled holding her up as I walked out.
"Hey, son." Linda smiled pecking my cheek.
"Where's Ethan?" I asked kissing the top of her head.
"He just said that he'd go for a walk."
"I'll go see him. Do you want to come with me?" I turned to Alice who just frowned shaking her head.
"They fought again." She sighed.
"We will talk about it later." I sighed placing Alice back on her feet. "I'm going to see him."
Walking out, I felt the cold air hitting my skin making me feel fresh. It's a good night, but I can't help thinking about Dareen. I don't understand where is our relationship going. It's confusing.
"Ethan," I called out as I spotted him walking like the fool he is. Turning around, he smiled as I took faster steps towards him.
"I miss you." I chuckled wrapping my arms around him.
"I do more." He smiled pulling away.
"Where were you going?" I asked.
"Meet some friends." He shrugged.
"Okay, don't be late. I want to spend some time with you."
"Alright." He nodded walking away. "Will be back soon!"
