Song: Lost Stars- Adam Levine.
Elliot
"Put something clean under her, and something to cover her up."
"I don't have anything! We're in the car."
"Are you too far from home?"
"About five minutes away." I panted.
"Okay, Miss Isaac, try not to push the baby by panting or just breathing without pushing okay?"
"Okay." She sobbed.
"Take her home, and if you can call someone to prepare anything, tell them to get clean sheets and towels."
"O-okay."
"Call me when you get there, and make sure not to make her stand up. If she delivered the baby standing up, it may cause serious injury."
"Okay." I nodded throwing her phone to the side before pulling out mine.
"He-"
"Linda, I'm coming over. I don't want mum or Ethan to know anything till we finish. Get clean sheets and towels, okay? We will need many."
"What's going on? I don't understand anything!"
"Don't ask questions! We have no time. Keep the door open!" I screamed.
"Okay! I have to hang up, now." She said quickly.
"Dareen, how are you feeling?" I reached back holding her hand.
"I'm fine, just don't take your eyes off the road!" She said quickly trying to pull herself together, but her pain was showing.
"Here we are." I whispered stopping the car in Linda's driveway.
"Wrap your arms round my neck." I instructed pulling her in my arms. If I could just stop time, I'd choose to stay with her in my arms like that forever, but we have no time. Not even locking the car, I ran to the door as quickly as possible.
"Linda!" I yelled running to the guest room.
"Everything is here!" She pointed to a basket where all the towels and sheets are in. "Oh my God, Dareen." She whispered.
Letting out a high pierced scream, Dareen holds my hand tightly making me feel like my bones will break under her grip. Kissing her forehead, I raise the phone to my ear to know the next step.
"Doctor, I'm at home. What should I do."
"Okay, Clean your hands and arms thoroughly with antimicrobial soap and warm water and clean under your nails with a toothbrush."
"Okay." I nodded tuning to Dareen to kiss her again before running to the bathroom.
"Till you finish, give the phone to anyone if there's someone with you."
"Linda!" I yelled as she ran to me.
"Okay, I'll do it." She nodded after listening for the doctor for a few moments before putting the phone over my ear.
"Did you finish cleaning your hands?"
"Yeah, it's done." I nodded.
"I told the lady to prepare everything needed. Now, go to miss Isaac, and help her strip from waist down, and cover her with a clean sheet. Be calm and try to encourage her to breathe without panicking."
"Okay." I nodded walking over her to do what he just said.
"It hurts." She sobbed holding her head.
"It'll be over soon. You'll be fine, baby." I whispered.
"Put pillows under her back, and help her lie down and help her bend her knees." I could hear him running around.
"Elliot!" She screamed holding me by my hair.
"Baby, don't worry. They're on their way. It'll be fine." I try to ressure her, but the fact that I'm already panicking doesn't help.
"Save your baby. Save him, please." She sobbed.
"What're you saying?" I whispered.
"Elliot, the man is yelling through the speaker!" Linda yelled cutting us off.
"Yes, doctor."
"Tell her to take a deep breath then push. Keep doing that till you see the baby's head." He instructed.
"Dareen, take a deep breath, and try to push the baby. Don't stop doing that till I tell you, okay?" I instructed as Linda wiped sweat off of Dareen's face and chest.
"I can see the head!"
"Be gentle! Don't pull him out. Tell her to keep pushing." He said. "When he's out, hold him with his feet slightly above his head level. Don't hold him by his feet though. Do you understand?"
"Yes!" I nodded looking at her. "Dareen, try to push again."
"I can't!" She screamed tilting her head back in pain.
"Just one more time. It's nearly over." I promised, and she finally did.
"He's out!" Tears flooded from my eyes as I held him in the assigned position.
"Why isn't he crying?" She sobbed.
"I-I don't know!" I turned to the phone to find that it's out of charge. "Fuck!" I yelled not knowing what to do next.
"Move to the side!" Linda shook her head as she held him amd started rubbing his back gently till he started crying softly.
"Hold him, darling." Linda instructed handing him to Dareen who was still sobbing.
"There's a sound!" I pointed out.
"Sirens." Linda nodded walking out.
"How are you feeling?" I whispered running my hands through her hair.
"We're okay." She smiled through her tears. "Call Harry, and tell him to get us something to wear."
"Okay." I nodded as the paramedics stepped in.
"How are you feeling?"
"I'm fine." She nodded.
"Any pain?"
"It supsided quickly." She ressured.
"Okay, please wait outside." One of them ordered, and I nodded following Linda outside.
--------
"Harry, can we talk for a second?" I told him quietly not wanting Christina to hear anything.
"Sure." He nodded handing his daughter to Christina. "We'll be back." He nodded following me down the hall.
"What's wrong?" He frowned.
"One question, is that my baby?"
"You're asking me? How am I supposed to know?"
"Dareen told me to save my baby, but I want to make sure. You know everything about Dareen."
"And you should know that you won't get a word out of my mouth. If you have questions, ask her, but don't use me against her." He warned.
"Where's her boyfriend?" I raised a brow.
"I don't know." He shrugged.
"So bad that I had hope to know anything. Put yourself in my position, I was the first one to hold him- to save him, but I don't know if he's my child? You're a father. You should understand." Tears fell from my eyes, and I didn't make any effort to stop them.
I can't believe that I'm begging for an answer.
"Make a test. If she refused to tell you the truth, make a DNA test." He said sternly. "Dareen never cheats. I think you should know the answer by now." He whispered before tuning around to walk back to his wife as the doctor stepped out of her room.
"How're they?"
"They're totally fine. You did a good job." He smiled praising me.
"Can we see them, now?" Christina asked.
"Yeah, and once she feels good enough to leave, she may leave. Their state is perfect, and there is no need for them to stay here." He shrugged.
"Thanks, doctor." I nodded.
-------
"I'll put him in bed." Christina smiled taking the baby once I stepped into Dareen's room.
Standing silently, I stared at Dareen till she turned her attention to me.
"Sit down." She nodded quietly.
"Answers." I sighed sitting on a chair next to her bed.
"He's your baby. I have no boyfriend." She closed her eyes for a second before turning to me.
"I thought you never lie. The way you made me feel like I was a devil, I thought you were a fallen angel?"
"You forced me-"
"Shut up!" I snapped. "Dareen, I can't believe you. I can't believe that you're so heartless!"
"You throw me behind your back as if I was just a piece of shit! What were you waiting for? For me to go and tell you: Sorry, I'm pregnant with your baby?"
"Yes! Dareen, you were going to live with my child without me knowing! How were you thinking? Where was your mind when you thought of such thing?!" I yelled.
"I had no other choice-"
"That's not a fucking choice! You know what? I can take him, and tell you that I had no option as well-"
"That's not your right! He's a newborn and he needs me." She screamed standing up as well.
"He needs both of us! I'm his father! He's my son, too!"
"That's why I didn't want to tell you- I knew that you'd be that much of an asshole!"
"And you're a bitch!! Can't you see the way you look? You're a child yourself! You're incapable of taking care of a baby!"
"Yeah, and you're capable of doing so, don't you?" She rolled her eyes.
"Yes."
"That's why your brother is an addict?" Not able to control myself, I slapped her right across the face.
"Don't you dare.." I whispered before walking out and slamming the door shut.
"What happened?" Harry stepped out of the kitchen.
Ignoring him, I walked to the baby's room to find Christina holding him in her arms.
"Look who came." She whispered to him. "Do you want to carry him?" She smiled at me.
"Can you leave the three of us alone, please?" I asked taking him from her.
"Okay, but where's Dareen?"
"We fought, but don't worry, we're fine." I ressured, but she kept looking at me uneasily.
"Christina, I want to stay with Dareen and my baby. Is that too much to ask for?" I asked sternly.
"No, call us if you needed anything. We're not going anywhere." She shrugged, and I nodded for her as she took Harry and left us alone.
