I sit there stockstill as each car door slowly opens one by one.

Several huge men emerge, looking menacing as hell in their all-black clothes. But instead of moving forward to seize me they just stand there, as if waiting for some kind of order. I wait with bated breath as one last guy comes into view.

I cannot.
Believe.
My eyes.

"Greyson?!"

He grins at me, throwing his arms out. "The one and only, babe."

"W-what's all this?" I gasp, gesturing wildly at the men and the cars while he doubles over with laughter. "Are you fucking crazy?"

He continues to laugh his ass off while I look on in disbelief.

"You should've seen your face," Greyson finally chortles out, straightening up. "Relax, baby, it's just a little prank-"

"Screw you! Do you know how scared I was? I thought I was getting abducted, you asshole!"

"Alright, alright, geez," He croons, apologetically holding up his hands. "You're mad, I get it... so then," He saunters over, takes my hand in his. "Let me take you somewhere nice to make up for it."

I snatch my hand back. "Hell no, I had a long day and I just want to go home. Tell your thugs to get out of the way."

He gives me a smug smile, slipping his hands into his pockets. "I stopped by at your place earlier to see Thea. I brought her gifts, you know, and we had a nice little chat."

"What?" I grind out, white hot fury surging through me. "You stay away from her, you, you-"

He mockingly inclines his head, waiting for my insult. I dig my fingernails into my palms, fighting the urge to reach out and slap him. I have to calm down, can't afford to lose my temper. Eyes closed, I reach down for the rubber band on my wrist, tug at it and let go. I repeat this several more times while taking in big gulps of air.

"I can't go anywhere, tonight," I say at last, folding my arms across my chest. "I've got to take pizza home to Thea and Nessa for dinner."

"One of my men can take it to them - you are coming with me, babygirl. There's something I want to show you. And I will be taking you out on day trip to the coast, tomorrow. I've already got everything planned out."

Is he fucking serious? "I've got work, tomorrow, Greyson."

"Actually, I need us to discuss something about that, so, come on." He starts to nudge me off my scooter.

"Hey, what about-"

"My men will take care of it. Let's go." Greyson asserts, practically dragging me to one of the cars.

We drive about fifteen minutes away to this abandoned building where he ushers me up to the rooftop which overlooks the city. I've got to admit, the view is rather impressive.

The city is alive with twinkling lights, like a sea of stars spread out. The skyline is dotted with towering buildings, each one lit in its own unique way. I can see for miles in every direction.

"I knew you'd like it." Greyson's smug voice breaks through the fog of peace that had started to settle over me. He moves to put an arm around my shoulder, but I step out of reach.

"There's nothing you can do to make me forget what you did to my sister."

"I didn't hurt her then, remember - nor did I today. All I wanted was to show you I'm not to be taken lightly."

My jaw clenches. "Damnit, Greyson. Just. Leave us. Alone. What part of I don't want to be with you do you not understand?"

"Once I see something I like, I don't rest until it's in my possession. You have no idea just how lucky you are that I'm willing to go to any extent to make you mine. Some girls would kill to be in your place."

I want to scoff, but he's kind of right. A few weeks ago while I was taking a peaceful stroll through the park, this crazy bitch came up to me wielding a stiletto heel and then went on to whack me with it, screaming about how I was a hideousfuckheadedcunt and how she couldn't imagine what Greyson saw in me.

Luckily for me, the people nearby pulled her away before she did me any real harm, and also called the police.
So, I guess there are girls who have a liking for entitled, egoistic, psychopathic crime lords but I'm not one of them. I don't care how much money he has - I don't want to be involved with him in any way. Being close to someone so dangerous would not only put my life at risk but Thea's, too. To top it off, there's a risk of my getting caught up in his shit and ending up in jail all over again.

"Narae," Greyson continues, his tone gentler. "Quit your sorry job and move in with me. Thea can come, too. I will take good care of the both of you, give you a life most people can only dream of. I don't understand why you keep on pushing me away. I love you, you know that."

"You have a funny way of showing it." I say with a sigh.

"Well, I am what I am," He states shamelessly, fixing me with a fierce gaze. "You won't ever find a man who will cherish you like I do."

I look him right in the eye. "I need some time to think."

The last thing I want to to aggravate him with outright rejection. Instead, I need him to be collected and a little hopeful while I try and figure out a solution to rid myself of him forever.

Back when I was little, I would dream of how my pretty face would one day charm me an oh-so-fine, wealthy gentleman to sweep me off my feet... but this hooligan in front of me is what I ended up attracting instead.
I'm actually still kind of sure that if I really set myself to it, I could use my looks to secure myself a much better, richer guy. Yep, I have super high standards and this man here doesn't begin to meet them.

In spite of it all, I let him pull me into a hug. "Fine, I'll wait for your answer," He yields, not sounding not too bothered, thankfully. "I know you're not going to let me down..."

I try not to make a face as he presses his lips on my forehead. Soon. I have to get rid of him as soon as possible; For my sister's sake, if not for my own.
