"Traveling outside of Konoha?" you repeated, the words barely leaving your lips before your mother nodded, her arms crossed over her chest like a general preparing to send her soldiers off to war.
"Yes, Mei has found herself a valuable husband who lives in the Sand Village," she began, her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm. "So you shall be traveling with her and a bodyguard I've hired to ensure your safety."
Your heart sank, despair tumbling over you like a wave. You felt miserable as your mother continued her excited chatter about the trip. "
"The journey will take three days," she said emphatically, the weight of her words settling heavily. "So I suggest you start gathering whatever you might need for the adventure ahead."
"But why me?" Your voice betrayed your incredulity. "I'm sure you can just hire another bodyguard to follow them!"
Your mother's grin widened into a smile that suggested she'd made her mind up long before ever posing that question to you.
"Well, I decided that since there are no chances of you getting married anytime soon, you're going to become a fabulous kunoichi!" she exclaimed proudly, puffing out her chest as if she were revealing the greatest revelation of the century.
"Kunoichi?" The color drained from your face as the reality of her words sank in like a stone. An irk mark formed on your forehead, and your eyebrow twitched in frustration. "No way." You crossed your arms protectively over your chest, determined to resist her plans.
"Well, I didn't ask for your response now, did I?" she retorted, her tone firm and unyielding. "I will decide what you will do for as long as you live under my roof." You glanced over at Miya, sprawled drunkenly on the floor, oblivious to the world and, more importantly, your predicament.
"I want to become the head of the Okkotsu clan..."
Your expression grew blank, and a cold wave of hopelessness washed over you. "Alright, sure," you muttered, waving dismissively as you turned away, wanting nothing more than to escape to your room where you could be alone with your thoughts.
Why was it that your mother dictated the fate of you and your sisters? Why couldn't you all just be free to carve your own paths in life? What ever happened to individuality and the right to choose your own destiny?
You paused at the sliding door, holding it open just long enough to take one last deep breath before pushing it aside to enter your sanctuary.
Inside, your room was a vibrant clash of chaos and creativity—a stark reflection of your tumultuous spirit. Sketches and paintings plastered the walls, each brushstroke and pencil line telling a story of who you were and what you aspired to become. The large window opposite the door stretched almost half the wall, inviting natural light and fresh air into the space, always open to reveal the breathtaking view of Konoha.
