~The Enchanted Forest (past)~
I gasped as I sat up in the bed, catching my breath that was uneven. Another night less sleep from a nightmare. This is how it's been the last few weeks. I haven't gotten a restful sleep. The nightmare is always the same. I'm standing on an island. Trapped. These green eyes stare back at me. A wicked grin on his face. He mouths something, but no sound comes out. Then, he leans in to kiss me, but I wake up before he does.
"Another nightmare?" Hook broke me from my thoughts. He sat up and placed his hand on my thigh.
"It's nothing." I protest.
"You're losing sleep. I can see how exhausted you are." I sighed. "It's been weeks since Pan wrote that note. He's not going to do anything. He would have by now." He brushed my hair behind my ear. I twirled it around my fingers. It was black.
"I know. With the note and now these nightmares. I feel like something bad is going to happen." I confessed. These thoughts were driving me crazy.
"Is it a gut feeling? Or a magic feeling?" I shrugged and looked at him. I was scared, but I didn't want Hook to see me that way. I'm supposed to be strong.
"I don't know." It was the truth. "They feel so real. It's almost as if it's happened before. How can that be if I've never been there before?" Hook was quiet. I could tell he didn't know what to do or say. He was concerned, but I knew he was trying not to think about it. As was I. Hook climbed over me and got off the bed. He held out his hand, and I took it without question. I wrapped my arms around his neck, and he wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me close.
"Maybe those dream catchers aren't working. Ever since you got them, you've had nightmares."
"They're supposed to stop the bad dreams. Maybe they haven't started working. Maybe they take some time." Hook leaned in and placed his lips on mine. I smiled into the kiss. Everything I was worrying about seemed to fade away when I felt his soft ones.
"Help! Help me!" We heard someone scream. It sounded like a little boy. Hook and I quickly made our way up the steps. The crew wasn't on the ship, and we noticed they were all gathered in the town. We raced over there and shoved out way through the crowd, just in time to see a little boy, no more than ten years old, being cuffed by the Evil Queen's men. He was kicking and screaming, but the men held him with ease.
"Let me go! Please, help me!" I saw tears forming in his eyes. I saw the terror I'm them. I know how it feels all too well. I can't let him get taken. I turned to look at Hook. He shook his head slowly.
"We have to do something. He's just a kid. You know what the Evil Queen will do. I know what she will do." Going against what Hook said, I pulled out my sword and moved to the front. The crowd saw this and started to split apart to make room for me. They stared with shocked faces.
"Let the boy go." I demanded. The guards looked at each other and then laughed.
"And what are you going to do?" The taller one challenged. I held up my sword and ran my fingers along the blade.
"I'll just have to kill you, I suppose."
"A little girl like you is going to stop us, I'm guessing?" The guard crossed his arms.
"Don't. Call. Me. Little girl. Only my boyfriend can say that." They looked at each other once again, and I took that as my moment. I charged and swung my sword just as the tall one pulled his out to block my attack. I brought mine back up, and our swords clashed. The sound of metal scraping against metal. The shorter guard got close to me with his sword, and I spun, swinging my sword to deflect his strike. I kicked his stomach and then brought my knee to his face with a thud. He grunted and fell back. I turned around just in time to dodge the sword coming right at my face. I rolled out of the way and kicked him in the back of the knee. This made him fall to the ground. I quickly shoved my sword through his back, and he went motionless. I took my sword back as the other guard was off the ground. He ran straight towards me and swung his black down. I turned mine sideways to block. This worked, and I used my strength to shove him back. I swung my sword up from the ground and was able to cut his arm. He screamed in pain, and I swung it back down. Cutting his arm again. I smacked his blade really close to the hilt, and it was enough to knock it out of his hand. Without missing a second, I stabbed my sword through his chest. I watched as the life left his eyes, and he fell to the ground. Dead.
