It had been 3 months since the Bellas had won the ICCA's and summer was just finishing. Beca was packing up all her stuff to move into the new Bellas house. As much as she didn't want to go back to school, she had to. She also wanted to see Chloe so badly, they needed to talk. Her dad dropped her off at Barden really early in the morning so Beca would have the day to sort her shared room with Fat Amy. When Beca arrived, none of the others were there yet. Luckily, she had met Aubrey last week to get her key so she was able to let herself in. Aubrey had also told Beca which room was hers. Chloe and Aubrey were in their 3rd year at Barden, so naturally, being the oldest, they sorted out room allocations. Beca was with Fat Amy, Jessica with Ashley, CR with Lilly, Stacie with Denise, and Chloe and Aubrey had the two singles. They wouldn't be able to take anyone new this year but they would be able in two years when Chloe and Aubrey were gone. Beca made her way to the second floor and chose her side of the room and began emptying her stuff. After awhile, she heard the front door. Then she heard the best thing ever.
"Hello?" Someone called out. Beca ran downstairs and stood there, just staring.
"Chloe!" Chloe ran towards Beca and took her into a signature Beale bear hug.
"Beca! Oh my god I've missed you." Chloe said this while taking in Beca's smell and the warmth of her body. The two girls had only texted a bit over the summer after everything happened with them. Friends is what they agreed so friends is what they were. Beca was determined to not overstep with Chloe but she wanted them back to how they were before they slept together. She wanted her best friend back. Chloe felt the same way.
"I missed you too Chlo." Beca said, pulling away from the hug.
"Let's go up to my room, I came yesterday to unpack. We need to catch up!" Chloe started dragging Beca to the second floor, into the room beside Beca's. Beca looked around and could see it was definitely Chloe's room. One of the walls was pink, the bed was white with a pink duvet, she had a pink desk chair, and a big poster of One Direction on the wall. Chloe loved One Direction. They sat down on the bed and started to tell each other about their summers. Beca's wasn't so eventful and she really only worked on her music. Chloe's however was very eventful. She went out almost every night with her older sister, Charlie, and they never had a bad night.
"It was amazing Becs. I had so much fun. But I couldn't stop thinking about you." Beca nodded and squeezed Chloe's hand.
"Me too red. I really missed you. But we're here now and we can be best friends again." There was that word again, 'friends', it stung Chloe so hard but she knew it was for the best. Friends.
"Yeah, best friends." Chloe repeated and smiled at Beca.
By the next evening, all the Bellas had moved into the new house. They decided to have a movie night. Of course, Beca protested, but Chloe persuaded her to stay. The two girls ended up cuddling on the couch like they always used to, as if nothing had happened.
"Look at her, she's so not a a badass." Stacie said to the other girls. Beca had fallen asleep cuddled up to Chloe.
"Shh Stace, don't wake her." Chloe instructed the Bellas to be quiet, she didn't want Beca to move. When the movie finished, everyone went to bed, but Chloe stayed there because she still had a tiny monster curled up in her lap. She gently woke Beca up.
"Hey becs," Chloe whispered while stroking Beca's hair. "Becs, cmon time for bed." Beca slowly opened her eyes. 'Wow' she thought, 'I could get used to waking up to that face all the time.' She shook those thoughts out of her head as quickly as they came in. No, her and Chloe were friends. Just friends. Beca got up and the two girls headed to bed. When they reached Beca's door, which was right before Chloe's, Chloe stopped and turned to Beca.
"Good night Beca. I'm really glad we're okay."
"Me too Chloe. Good night."
And with that, the two girls stalked off into their separate bedrooms. The only thing separating them; a wall, and their stupid thoughts of friends.
