Sophie's POVI sat in the hospital room. Everyone was surrounding me but I wasn't listening to anyone. The doctor came in and everyone stood talking immediately. "It's nice to see that you are awake, Miss Elliot," Dr Evans said."Thanks, what happened?" I asked."You have smashed you knee, it will be at least 2 months before you can walk properly," he said."When will I be able to dance?" I asked."I'm not sure that you will be able to. I suggest seeing Dr Cooper to help with therapy to help you. He wants to see you," Dr Evans said. One of the nurses handed me crutches and I followed her. I was numb. I couldn't believe that I might not be able to dance ever again.Dr Cooper was a young doctor with dark hair and chocolate eyes. He got me to sit down so that we could talk."I know that Dr Evans told you that you probably can't dance again but that you might be able to. Looking at you, you are clearly a very fit person and I think that you should have half the therapy that I would recommend to most people but I suggest you take up swimming," he said."I know how to swim but I'm not that good," I said."Don't worry, you should join a club maybe compete if you want," he said."Thanks, what days should I come in here?" I asked."How about we start with just Mondays and see if you need more?" he suggested.I had heavy taping on my knee for school. Katy and Christina had spent most of the weekend with me. Hundreds of people came and visited me. Theresa's Mother came around and apologised for her daughter. I still got along with Theresa's Mother even though I don't like her daughter anymore. I had my swim clothes in my bag. I had told Katy and Christina not to wait for me afterschool but I didn't tell them why. Michael told me at lunch that Theresa had been banned from the dance studio. Madame had given her a very log lecture before telling her never to come back. There was no one in the changing room afterschool. My togs are modest. They are a one piece thing that is mostly black with a stripe of blue. I manage to limp to the water's edge without putting much weight on my knee. I slipped into the pool and took off down one lane at a relatively slow pace. It felt nice to move my knee. As I moved I slowly flexed it and it didn't hurt as I wasn't placing weight on it. I became more confident and started to swim faster. I most have been swimming for an hour before someone joined my lane."I haven't seen you around before," the guy said.He was very hot. He had dark brown hair that was pulled over from right to left. He had these very dark brown eyes that looked nice. He was very fit and I'm guessing that he is a swimmer from his broad shoulders. "I'm recovering from an injury. My name is Sophie Elliot," I said pulling myself up onto the edge. "I'm William Jacobs but everyone calls me Will. You're pretty good for a newbie. What happened to you?" he asked."I'm a dancer and I got thrown into a mirror," I sighed."That sucks. You should join the swim team. We are a pretty good time and you are pretty good," he said pulling himself so that he was sitting next to me."Really? Can I just join?""Technically no but we need more swimmer so our Coach won't complain." "Thanks, what school are you at?" I asked."Same one as you, Adam West Side," he said."How do you know what school I'm at?" "You are the most popular girl in the school. Of course I know who you are.""I just want to get away from that. Here I am. I don't want to be Sophie the popular girl, you know what I mean?""Yeah, I tell everyone not to mention," he said before diving into the pool.I pulled myself out and wondering about Will. He seemed like a really nice and friendly person and I really hoped that his swim team like me. I would give a reason to force myself to the pool. I changed and quickly hurried home.My twin brother, Lucas, was already home and he stared at me when I came in."Your hair is wet and you have a smile on your face," he noted."Thank you Captain Obvious. I didn't realise," I smirked."Where were you?" he asked."Not here, now I have homework," I said skipping away. I had about ten texts from Katy asking where I was and why wasn't I answering her. I ignored all of them and started working on my English piece. My phone beeped and the text was from a number I didn't recognise.Hey, it's your stalker. Just letting you know that Coach said that he would most likely let you swim on our team but he wants to see you swim at our training tomorrow after school. WillThanks and how did you get my number? I respondedI know Henry and he knows someone who knows someone who knows your brother, who surprisingly knows you. So should I assume that my number is not very private. It is, I had to pull a whole heap of favours to get it. Anyway see you tomorrow.I sat there for a minute before saving the contact. Lucas came in and sat down on the bed, spinning me around so that I was facing him. "Where were you?" he asked."I was at the pool, swimming," I said."Did you think of mentioning this to Katy? She was calling all afternoon since you couldn't answer you bloody phone," he said light-heartedly."I might have forgotten to tell her and Christina but I'm sure that you didn't mid talking to her," I teased. It is no secret that Lucas has a crush on Katy. He hates that I know and I am forever teasing him about it. He blushed a bright red and immediately left. I spun back around and started to work on my homework again.I was attempting to stuff my swim gear into my locker while balancing on crutches and I was failing. Luckily I had just managed to shove it in before Katy skipped over. "Where were you yesterday? I had to resort to calling your brother," she laughed."I was swimming," I said neglecting to mention any more than that. "You should have told me, I could have come," she said."You can swim as well as a cat," I teased."I never said that I was going to be getting in the pool.""It's fine, swimming is a solitary sport anyway.""Good because I wouldn't want to cut into my shopping time," she laughed as we headed to our first class. Will was sitting in the class when we arrived. He winked at me but thankfully didn't say anything. He was sitting with two guys. One had sandy blonde hair. He was wearing a plain grey shirt and white shorts. The other boy had brown hair and he was in a blue shirt and black shorts. I would guess that they were both in the swim team as well. Katy slide into her seat next to her boyfriend, Noah. They have been dating for like two years and still aren't over the gooey stage. I rolled my eyes and sat down. Unfortunately Christina wasn't in English with us I was stuck being the third wheel. Suddenly I got hit in the back of the head by a piece of paper.Looks like you are stuck. Too bad you don't want to hang out with us, the unpopular people. It's not that it just that I haven't told my friends and I really don't want to so you aren't allowed to say anythingWhy don't you want to them to know? He asked.Because my friends are all about shopping and shit and as much as I love them if they know that I am friends with anyone else they are going to leave me behind.Doesn't sound like nice friends. At least they don't hit me on the head with paperHey, at least it got your attention.I didn't reply as the paper was full and I needed to get work done so I didn't have a ton after swimming tonight. Katy and Noah were still flirting and I put headphones in so that I didn't have to listen to them. It made me sick. Will smiled at me as I left. I rolled my eyes at him and he fake frowned. Katy was still attached to Noah so I left before them. Christina was waiting for me and she laughed."I'm guessing it is still gooey in Loveville," she laughed."I know, luckily I had headphones in else I think I would be sick," I laughed. The day past quickly and suddenly I was meeting Will at the pool. I still had a blue shirt and white shorts on over my togs because I still wasn't that confident with my body ever after years of dance and I was meeting new people. "Come on, they love you," he said."Sure, I'm still nervous though," he said. There were only the two boys that Will was with early there. They were in togs and having a conversation. "You're that girl, the popular one," the blonde one said."No I'm her twin sister that she usually locks in the basement," I said managing to keep a straight face. "You look just like her. What is it like living in a basement?" the other boy asked."I have no idea. I am Sophie but you have to promise that you won't judge me like that," I begged. "We won't. I'm Henry and the other idiot is Nathan," the blonde one said."If you don't mind me asking, why are you part of the popular group?" Nathan asked."I dance and most of the dancers are part of that group and so were my best friends so I sort of joined but I damaged my knee so swimming help and this idiot told me that I should join," I said sitting down while gesturing at Will.I could walk without crutches but it hurt and I couldn't do it for long so I used them but I couldn't be bothered with them so I left them at the reception but carried my bag with me that I was now sitting next to me. The rest of team joined us. There were another two guys and three girls which bring the total up to nine including me. Ben had dark hair that was quite as dark as Will's but he had light green eyes. Aaron had light brown hair that could mistaken for blonde but when I mentioned that he was extremely offended and almost hurt me. He then had pool blue eyes that he called sea green. I can already see that he must be a jokester. Emily or Em as the team called her was the prettiest of the girls. She had waist length black hair that looked perfect. She had light brown eyes and perfectly tanned skin. She was wearing the team togs, maroon with black stripes. Tori was the second girl. Her name is not short for Victoria. I felt bad asking but she told me that everyone did. She had red hair that was chopped just above her shoulders. It was dead straight without a single wave. Her eyes were a confusing mix of green, blue and brown so I could tell what colour it was.Ruby was the final person on the team. She had curly brown hair that flowed just over her shoulders. She had green eyes that looked like grass. You could see that the whole team was really close but with them being here most days and spending time travelling to compete you would be and to be able to put up with five boys is impressive. Coach told me just to follow everyone else. He would tell me afterwards if he thought that I was good enough. Tori told me that Will always lead the warm up which was about twenty laps of different strokes. We were in the 25 metre pool. We then had another twenty laps or so of different skill such as swimming only using our arms or using the flutter boards and stuff like that. I felt so tired after but I managed to keep up. I was constantly challenging Will which Em said was impressive because no one could keep up with him. Coach pulls me aside after I had a towel pulled around me."You are definitely on the team. I was pretty sure anyway. If Will thought you were good than you must be," Coach said."Thanks, it was really fun," I said."What events do you do?" he asked."I don't know I haven't competed before," I said."You are definitely a sprinter. I'm thinks freestyle up to 400 meters, backstroke maybe butterfly and breaststroke but I haven't seen you doing those much so we will see," he said and I nodded. "You were really good," Em said once we were changed. "Thanks, it's really fun," I said as I collecting my crutches."See you tomorrow," she said. "Well done Soap," Will laughed picking me up. My crutches fell as he spun me around before putting me down."Why am I called Soap?" I asked."Because I shortened your name to Soph but lots of people call you that so I changed it to Soap," he laughed."I have always want to be called Soap thanks Bill Clinton," I teased."Why am I Bill Clinton?""Because your name is William which you can shorten to Bill so you are Bill Clinton.""I can feel important now and order you around.""I'll you tomorrow," I said and started to walk home."Do you want a lift?" he yelled."I live like five seconds walk away. It's just around the corner," I said."See you in English Soap," he laughed...........................................................................................................................................................................................Bit of a longer chapter. I am trying to get work done but not doing too well. I rolled my ankle over the weekend and I really need it to heal because I have two badminton tournaments in the next two weeks.Comment and VoteThe Wise One
