Sophie's POV

I automatically sat next to Will in English. It felt like it had been sitting here forever but it had been one lesson. Katy gave me a small smile but I didn't return it. Will and Henry were in the middle of an intense discussion about something. It immediately stopped when I sat down.

"What was that about?" I asked.

"Nothing," Will said slightly sheepishly.

"I was telling him about how I put butter on our hallway and I taped my brothers on it," Henry covered up.

I knew that neither of them were telling the truth but I didn't really care anyway. Mrs Simpson came in and started a lesson about the novel that are about to start reading. I stared at it when she handed me one. It had to be at least 600 pages and Will groaned.

"Are you sure that this isn't meant to be a pillow to save you from boring lessons?" he asked.

"But this is a charming story of bravery and courage. Rose is a boxer, well she used to be. Instead slightly handsome Brent is up for a fight that realistically he has no chance of winning and Rose's Father wants her to teach him. The pair are fighting but not bowing, arguing. Can Brent figure out the girl that is hidden behind the gloves?" I read.

"Not another stupid romance book," Henry groaned.

I stared at the cover. The book was called Fighting Gloves and it didn't look appealing.

I swear that English teachers purposely pick books that put people of reading off more even if they already hate it," Will said.

I had forgotten that Will was not a reader. I love reading but this book didn't look good. Just looking at the back it seemed like the cliché love story. They don't get along and then they fall in love. Henry was leaning back in his seat and had started reading. I tried to start but I got stuck on the second page. The writing style was crap.

Will was using his book for the true purpose. He was asleep on the desk using the book as a pillow. Mrs Simpson must have noticed because in seconds she was standing above him.

"Mr Jacobs is this book boring?" she asked.

Will groaned and pulled himself up so that he was looking at her.

"Honestly Miss but this book looks terrible. I'm pretty sure I can predict that crappy ending and I don't want to read 600 pages to know that. Seriously the longest book I have read because I wanted to was like ten pages and a children's book," he said.

"Mr Jacobs I expect you to read this book. I personally have read it and I loved it," she said.

"That would explain it. Everyone knows that English teachers pick the worst books," Henry said chiming in.

"Mr Davidson, that it is a stereotype and very untrue," Mrs Simpson said exasperated.

"It is so. Last year we read some book that was about 400 pages and the end was so predictable, the year before was the same and the year before that. Face it, English teachers can't pick good books," I said.

"I thought you were better than this Miss Elliot. Since you seem to like this you can make a list of it in detention at lunch time," Mrs Simpson said.

Will raised his eyebrows at me and I laughed.

"Sophie, we were planning on going out for lunch. You had to stick up for those unpopular," Katy complained.

"I'm sorry," I lied.

I hadn't been looking forward to going out and listening to both Katy and Christina moan and moan about something about school or boys when I really wasn't listening.
