By 9:00a.m. the next morning, Craig and I were on a flight heading to London. Once we were there, Aunt Sage would pick us up and we'd go back to her apartment.
I sat nervously in the seat next to Craig. He was on his iPod, looking through the music. "Craig?" I said. He ignored me. Both of his earphones were in and I could faintly hear music playing already. I sighed. No use trying to talk to him...
I turned and looked across the aisle. There was an old woman reading a magazine. Next to her was an old man. He was sleeping and snoring loudly. Jesus! Its barely been ten minutes since take off and he is already asleep!
"May I help you?" I noticed the old woman looking at me. I felt embarrassed. I had been to staring at them. Okay that's rude.
"I'm sorry." I said. I glanced at her magazine. "I was... Just wondering what you were reading." I half smiled, hoping the old woman wouldn't pick up my lie.
"Oh, dear, its just a magazine." She replied. That's when I realized she had an accent. A British accent. "Its People magazine. I have another copy if you would fancy reading it." She offered. I nodded.
"That would be great." I said. The old woman smiled and pulled a magazine out of her large purse and handed it to me. As I took it, I said "See, I haven't been to the UK before. Let alone on a plane." The old woman raised her eyebrows.
"That's rather disappointing, dear. Great Britain is so beautiful this time of year!" She exclaimed. I nodded. "Well, what are you doing, going to the UK and all?" She asked.
I explained how Dad told Craig and I that we were going to stay with aunt Sage for a year. And how we would be doing online school. The old woman chuckled.
"Oh my! That is quite a plan, dear!" She exclaimed. A flight attendant walked between us, interuppting us. When I could see the old woman, she was focused on her magazine again. I sighed and looked at Craig, who was jamming out to his music.
I flipped open the People magazine and looked through it. I read every article, no matter how boring it was. By the time I finished, nearly two hours had passed. I was beginning to get hungry.
A flight attendant with a cart started walking by me. I reached out and touched her arm. "Excuse me." I said. She turned to look at me. "Is there anything I could eat?"
"Well, miss, what would you prefer? We have peanuts, trail mix, fish and chips, or if you're really hungry, we could give you an actual meal." The flight attendant offered. I thought about it for a moment and then told her I'd have trail mix.
Please just let this ride end soon... I'm getting so bored!
~time lapse~
"Reggie." A voice said. A hand was shaking me. "Reggie wake up." My head lifted slowly and I opened my eyes. People were filing past me in the aisle. Craig was leaning over me slightly.
"Dude, we're here." He said. I nodded and blinked. Here... Here?
"What?" I said, sleepily. Craig smacked himself in the face.
"London!" He exclaimed. "We've landed!" Then it hit me.
"Oh!" I said, giggling. I slid my seat belt off and stood up. Then I stepped into the aisle and grabbed my carry-on bag from the overhead. Craig did the same. My glasses were halfway off my nose so I pushed them back up and we left the plane.
There was no one waiting for us when we left the terminal. Dad said that aunt Sage would be there waiting when we got off the plane.
"Maybe she forgot about us?" Craig suggested. I shook my head. I knew that Sage would never forget us. She never forgot anything. She even Skyped Craig and I on our birthday every year! She would never forget us.
"No. Let's just uh... Let's go get our luggage." I said. Craig followed me down the hallway. We walked around a corner and I nearly walked into someone. "Oh, I'm sorry." I said.
"No problem, miss." I looked at the guy. He was slightly taller than me, which is a good thing because I am five foot eight. He had ginger hair and glasses. And his eyes...they were the prettiest blue eyes I had ever seen. On top of that, he had a British accent.
"I'm sorry, really. I should've..." I gulped. This guy was super attractive. "Been watching..." I said. The guy nodded.
"Its really no issue, miss. I've had a lot of things on my mind, so I failed to pay attention as well." He said. Craig leaned around me.
"My sis can be a clumsy little shit sometimes, man." Craig joked. "She's the one who should be paying attention." I elbowed Craig and the guy gave him a dirty look.
"Look, pal, I don't care if she is your sister or how clumsy she can be. I'm taking the blame because this is my fault." He snapped. Craig took a step back.
"Okay, Jesus!" Craig whispered. He looked at me, then walked past me. "Come on Reggie. We better find Sage." He called as he left.
"I better go." I said, looking at the guy again. He nodded.
"Your name is Reggie?" He asked. I blushed. It felt awesome hearing this attractive guy say my name. adjusted my glasses.
"Its really Regina, but I sound like an old grandmother with that name." I said. The guy shook his head.
"Nonsense. Its beautiful." He said. Ohmygod he is flirting with me! I blushed again. "I'm Ed." The guy said. I stared at him for a moment. "Ed Sheeran."
"Well, its great meeting you Ed." I said. Ed smirked. "I've really gotta go now, though." I saw Craig waving at me from across the large hallway.
"Maybe we'll meet again someday?" Ed said, laughing. I nodded and Ed walked away. He sure is cute. I wonder if I'll ever see him again.
