Preparations for the Chroma Ball began almost immediately the next day. The guest list had already been carefully planned and formulated. Two of those people appearing on the guest list was Princess Lovisa Milton- older sister of Queen Pandora- along with her daughter, Princess Orchid. The other important attendee was Princess Seraphine Black- King Augustine's younger sister- and her daughter, Princess Bluebell.
Orchid and Bluebell- both seventeen years old- carried themselves with an air of sophistication. The princesses were more living proof that beauty ran in the KodaCait dynasty. Bluebell's porcelain-like pale skin served as a canvas for her striking features, framed by a cascade of short brown hair that had been artfully dyed blue. Her eyes, a mesmerising shade of blue, sparkled with a hint of mystery, drawing others into the depths of her soul.
On the other hand, Orchid's olive skin imparted a sun-kissed glow that enhanced the natural richness of her beauty. Her eyes, a captivating shade of brown, possessed an entrancing depth that seems to reveal a world of secrets. Her long, silky dark brown hair cascaded down her shoulders, adding an element of timeless elegance to her overall appearance.
Despite their undeniable beauty, they were infamous for their insatiable appetite for drama, indulging in the pleasure of badmouthing their fellow princesses and aristocrats, along with Mari- their favourite cousin- who they had come to visit.
Mari, Orchid and Bluebell were the apex predators of their friendship circle. They were always spotted wearing the most expensive outfits and the most beautiful ball gowns. They always seemed close-knit, sharing secrets and exchanging gossip, but their friendship always felt like a competition- always trying to one-up each other in order to be the best in society. Obviously, Mari being one of the most popular princesses gave her a head start. The other two couldn't possibly compete with her.
"Bluebell, Orchid, my dear cousins, so glad you could come! This is Hawthorne, my sweet boyfriend." Mari exclaimed, introducing them to Hawthorne who was laying casually on her bed.
Hawthorne examined the girls and liked what he saw. He grinned at them, "Nice to meet you both, ladies."
Both Orchid and Bluebell sat on either side of Mari's bed, huge smiles plastered on their faces.
"Hawthorne, you should join us for the Chroma Ball talk. What do you think we should wear?" Bluebell asked with a playful wink.
"Yes, we must outshine everyone else, as always." Orchid chimed in, sitting with her legs crossed and straightened posture, her head held high in arrogance.
" I was thinking of wearing a different colour for a change. I had my eye on this gorgeous burgundy dress–"
Before she could finish, Orchid glared at her, "I was going to wear burgundy, Blue. You know we can't wear the same colour. We'll look like twins."
Seeing Bluebell's face fall, Mari reached over and squeezed her hand.
"Blue, I have this emerald green dress in my wardrobe that I could lend you. It's perfectly your style, with rhinestones and ribbons!"
Bluebell furrowed her brows and pursed her lips, exchanging glances of disgust with Orchid. She then gave Mari a weak smile, pulling her hand away.
"Thanks Mari, but...I'll pass, I can always find another colour to wear. Orchid and I were gonna go to Eanverness Dress Emporium to go dress shopping."
Mari's eyes sparkled, clapping her hands. "Ooh! May I come with you guys? I can surely offer my expertise!"
"Thanks but...no thanks...It's just for the two of us...plus, you've got the top designers in KodaCait dealing with your dress..." Orchid mumbled, playing with her hair and scanning Mari up and down.
